Fantastic pho! And the lunch specials are amazing: for about $7 you get a huge bowl of pho (I usually get beef and brisket) and an eggroll. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is also great, but I would definitely recommend more staff. Often, especially when it's busy, I only see 2 servers in the entire place, and they run their butts off. Sometimes that means that it takes 10 minutes for me to get my soda after I ask for it. I can't fault the server for that, since he is only one man. Beef up the serving staff, and this place will definitely get ***** from me. Love it here!

Best Pho I've had outside of Chicago. The other "entree" items are solid, but man, the pho is super awesome. Also try the banh mi, and make sure to drench it in that awesome peanut sauce they have there.

We had a taste for Thai and tried this place out. It is a family friendly restaurant, no alcohol, which was fine. My only minor complaint is when they are busy it can be noisy due to the lack of soft surfaces. It is clear they are popular because they were close to full on a Sunday night. It was cold weather so we had noodle soup. Giant bowls of steamy goodness, and a plate of bean sprouts, basil and limes to garnish. The ambiance is nice but a little too bright because there are no shades on the track lighting. I have been in brighter. And lots of booths.

This place offers great pho! Came in the midst of shopping on a Saturday. Service was quick and accommodating. Two of us had the steak and brisket pho dinner which comes with an egg roll. Delicious. And both of those coveted the third person's seafood pho which had plenty of shrimp, scallops, crab, and squid. We also had crab Rangoon which was good. Prices were definitely fair and we had leftover to take home.

This is where we go for Pho. It's quick, cheap and soooo good! The broth is so rich with flavor. We were greeted as if we were friends upon entering and quickly served. They do need to update the bathrooms. It was freezing in there and no paper towels, just a barely warm, hardly working air blower.
(4)Elisa G.
Good food, but the service is hit and miss. Bahn mi sandwiches are sold here, and are good if you like a lot of bread. Great spring rolls and pho.
(4)D M.
After going here several more times, the quality of the food lowered each time. The last time that I went here, I took as much fat off of the meat in my pho as I could and piled it onto a little plate. About 2/3 of the meat in my pho was actually stringy, chewy fat. I basically had a bowl of beef flavored noodles in the end. There are better options nearby in my opinion and i'll continue frequenting those places at this point.

I really wasn't impressed. I had the Chicken Banh Mi which was not as delicious or authentic as others I've had. There was a real lack of cilantro and jalapeno on mine, so it didn't have that yummy fresh flavor. I also didn't like the mayo very much, it just tasted like plain mayo you can get from a jar. The chicken also looked like some of it was dark meat which I don't really like. On the other hand, I had the watermelon smoothie with tapioca and it was quite good. The sandwich was $3.99 and the smoothie was like $3.46 with the tapioca so its not very expensive, but I'm still not sure I would go back.

I am so happy that I went here for lunch with friends. The service and waiters were kind and diligent. The bowl of pho with steak has now become one of my favorite meals- ever! You can't beat the prices and portions pho sho (heh, see what I did there? Sad that I went there isn't it?) My only complaint is that they don't have a second location closer to the south suburbs.
(5)Mia L.
Spring rolls were fresh and clean. The peanut sauce kicked up the flavor. Got the beef pho (#1)..twas amazing. I haven't had fresh, authentic pho in a while and I finally got my fix! The hype is real. If you're in the area, it's worth the stop :) Great food, great service, and great environment.
(4)Kat T.
I was excited to finally try this place out last Monday because of the good reviews, & it did not disappoint! I like the modern, spacious setting.. different from the pho ha & noodle house look. The Pho's are reeally good & so are their appetizers. Reasonably priced too! So glad I don't have to go out of my area now to get pho.
(3)Albert B.
I came here several times with family members. It is definitely one of the more authentic Pho Noodle restaurant in the suburbs. The Beef Pho is definitely their customer's favorite, but they also serve other Chinese/Thai Dishes as well. Service can be kinda slow because they're a bit understaff but the food quality still delivers. During Winter time, this Pho joint is a pretty good place to visit for all you suburbians who crave Vietnamese dishes but don't want to drive all the way to Uptown.
(4)Johnny L.
Food is good!. Price is OK for the amount of food served. The service is bad. Waiters are terrible. They don't check see if you need any refills, Check if everything was OK. The owner is wonderful but when she is out the SERVICE IS BAD. Could had been perfect.
(3)Brian F.
I've been here three times now, so I'm confident it's not a fluke. And though I'm a penny-pincher and will sacrifice quality to save a few bucks, there is no mistaking that Pho House has better service, ambience, and quality than Asia Noodle House. The pho has been consistently good here and we've even had take out that was just as good at home. One cautionary tale... The curry chicken we tried was not flavored properly and we had to return it. The good news is that the staff was courteous and apologetic and so this won't prevent us from coming back.
(5)Katie F.
We ate so much, and it was all so good, we literally rolled out of there. The pho of course was good, but what we liked even better were the spring rolls, Vietnamese sandwich (we got chicken), and pan fried rice flour cake. The smoothies are of course great too (love this style vs the crap they sell other places with all the added sugar/yogurt/whatever). The service was great-even answering questions about the proper way to eat the pan fried rice flour cake. They even put nick jr on the tv for my son without me even asking. This is probably one of our new favorite restaurants and I cant wait to go back to try even more of their huge menu!
(5)Julie Y.
Service was absolutely horrible but everything about this place was average. 3 stars because the food wasn't overly salty. The sandwich was good but maybe because I was super hungry. Crab ragoons and pho were pretty good and the spring rolls were alright too. Super cheap the 3 of us ate for around 25 bucks.
(3)Tiffany O.
The food here was not appetizing, and the customer service was terrible. The pho serving here is huge, but that does not matter because the broth was plain and noodles were falling apart. The stir-fry was as sweet as a donut without taste to it. The waitress did not ask if anyone at the table wanted drinks. The place was not busy, and it took about 10-15 minutes for the waitress to take the order. She kept rolling her eyes when questions were being asked about the food on the menu. The Thai and Vietnamese style food here were not like Thai or Vietnamese cuisine. I will not return and would not recommend it to anyone.
(1)M M.
Awesome place to eat....I will be back many times.
(4)Dee D.
Delicious pho!!! Good broth better than PHo Ha! I've never been disappointed leaving this place! AWESOME FOOD!
(5)Roman R.
Lunch portion is bigger than dinner entrees at other places. Pork was lean. pho was excellent, and the bowl was big enough for 2 people. Thai iced tea was great and not too sweet. Staff is polite. Highly recommended!
(5)Scottie P.
Pho is excellent here and their sandwiches. Other things are just okay. Overall a nice place to have lunch! Great Spot!!!
(3)Heesun K.
every time I go there, the taste of pho is different. I dont like noodle house at roselle but Im seriously thinking go back there.
(2)alina k.
Amazing Pho!
(5)Christina C.
I am so happy to find a Vietnamese place in the NW suburbs! And this place is great! It is much nicer than I expected inside - very pretty. The service was very helpful and attentive. The food was great. The pho was excellent and the spring rolls were very fresh. They were accommodating and helpful to my pescetarian friend. I can't wait to go back. After making do with Asian Noodle House and Pho U (now closed), I am glad to find a place that offers many Vietnamese favorites in an attractive setting for great prices.
(5)Sonia B.
This place is awesome and I find myself craving it! The pho is probably the best I've had! Their lunch specials are ridiculous...ridiculously good! For $5.95 you get a huge bowl of pho and an egg roll. Or you can do the noodle dish (also SUPER yummy) which comes with soup and an egg roll! You can't go wrong for the price! It really is yummy! The service is good and the atmosphere is nice too. I will definitely be going back and will have to try some of their bubble tea next time!
(5)David C.
This was mine and my gf's go to place for pho and potstickers before we moved to California! We love their food and smoothies! Very friendly service as well!
(5)Thomas C.
New fave! No longer do we have to pack the kids in the car, drive 40 miles to get great Pho. This place is pure dynamite. I had a monster bowl of Pho Tai, and savored every drop. The kids pounded down their kids portion of Chicken Pho. They have a new addition to the menu, found on the backpage. Banh Mi ! Ahhh, no better way to savor the French influence in Vietnam than this bread loaf sandwich. We grabbed three for takeout so we could keep the experience alive the next day. I cant wait to go back.
(5)Hans H.
+1 star for service. Recently went here with my family for Father's day and they were very accommodating of the group, and having tried more options on their menu, I believe we can go up a star. Still not as happy with their banh mi, but eh, I'll just....
(4)Elaine M.
Excellent salt and pepper pork, tasty bahn mi sandwiches, good pho and decent pot stickers, Spacious dining room, pretty good service. My son enjoyed his curry fried rice with beef - just enough kick that he didn't need to add siracha sauce and he only needed one glass of water. My daughter enjoyed her kiddie bowl of beef pho and several pieces of my S&P pork. Skip the crispy spring rolls unless you really like the taste of egg roll wrappers. It's located in the same plaza as Uni-Mart, in case you're inspired to cook some Filipino food later.
(5)Mel C.
Great food. Huge portions that are very fresh and reasonably priced. We will be back, often. Servers are really nice too. A hidden gem in Hoffman Estates. Thank you!
(5)Nerissa D.
Come hungry! quick service and very friendly. we had pho ga and it was delicious. definitely did the job since it was so cold.
(4)Avinash K.
We were a group of three and had come to this restaurant for dinner. We ordered a plate of crab rangoons and that was good. My friends ordered pineapple fried rice combo (with 2 veg rolls) and general tso's chicken with soft egg noodles which they said was OK. Ambience of this place was nice and staff were friendly.
(3)Kev G.
This was our first Pho experience and even my two picky daughters really enjoyed it. Not knowing how large the bowls of steaming Pho would be, we ordered appetizers. Shrimp Spring Rolls, Pot Stickers, and calamari. All came with very tasty sauces. Then came the main event. The Pho comes in bowls that rival serving bowls we use at Thanksgiving. It was fantastic. My wife and I had the Pho with beef and meatballs. My older daughter had the beef and my youngest had the chicken. All were served with the freshest vegetables in an amazing broth. We are House of Pho fans and will be back!!
(4)Barb S.
Really good food. I will be back for sure!!! ;D
(3)Jin K.
I'm saddened to write this as this was my go to Pho place. I've been happily coming here for over a year and today I found a bug in my soup. I'm not an expert but it looked to be a baby roach. I was absolutely disgusted with what I found. I showed it to my server, who did not seem surprised at all. I'm not sure why that upset me even more as something tells me it's not the first time someone has brought this up to them.
(1)Tish D.
If you want Pho, this is place to go. Great selection of standard Chinese and Vietnamese food too. Lunch specials very affordable.
(4)Jen H.
I did not care for anything we ordered. The lettuce was old and browning, and the Yum Yum soup was a gallon of broth, which was not spiced enough, with like two carrots and zucchini. The noodle dishes were bland and basic. The spring rolls were okay, but still my least favorite from other Thai places. Prices were very affordable though, and service was quick and friendly.
(2)Cristie F.
Feeling sick and miserable, I went back to House of Pho for the cure-all - a big, fat bowl of pho. Having the chicken pho on my last visit, I was itchin' to try the beef pho. It was fab!! Not quite as fab as my all time fave, Pho Ha in Glendale Heights, but it's a close runner up! Def will be hitting up House of Pho on a regular basis when in the Sburg area. P.S. They also serve up some fab Bahn Mi sammies now!
(4)Stacey F.
I went here with my Mom & sister yesterday. While I didn't really like what I had which was the chicken pad thai, We had the vegetable spring rolls which were really good and I liked the rest of the food I had and I definitely want to come back and try something different. For the price the food was really good. I really want to try this place again so I can try something different.
(4)Scott H.
Got served by thee Pho himself. He was very gracias and kindly welcomed me into his house. Food was excellent and Pho knocked it out of the park with his outstanding service
(5)Kerosan L.
I'm a fan of this place, if we crave for Pho, this is our place to go. Place is clean and spacious. The service is excellent, not overly attentive but just enough to let you know that they're there. Food servings are abundant, I always order #20 and I have tried their Pho which for the life of me, can't always finish. We have been back to this place so many times and a friend of ours, who's wife is pregnant loves this place.
(4)Kristen K.
Super impressed with this place. The food was 4 stars. The pho was fantastic. I am surprised to hear people complaining about the depth of the broth because it was wonderful. The beef curry was tender and oh so spicy, actually a little too spicy to be fully enjoyed. The service, though, was amazing. I wanted to put our server in my pocket. Can't wait to go back.
(5)Carrie J.
The waiters are always nice but be ready to wait because they might be slow at times. As for the food I definitely recommend the sandwiches because they can't get that wrong. This place is a hit or miss when it comes to the food but their prices are reasonable.
(3)Pari P.
$5.95 lunch special on the weekends?! This is unheard of but it's true. House of Pho offers a lunch and dinner special that's available on the weekends that comes with an egg roll and soup. Not only are these deals a steal but the portions are huge. They should really change their name to Giant Bowl of Pho because the portions are enough to feed a small village. It was a Sunday at 12:30pm and the place was packed. Even though it was busy, we were seated quickly and the food came out within five minutes of ordering. In addition to the large portions, the food itself was good. I'll admit, my expectations were lower because it was so cheap but the ingredients were fresh and my bowl was full of meat. If you aren't a fan of pho, you can order bahn mi sandwiches or non-Vietnamese dishes like pad Thai and Mongolian beef. I left the restaurant completely over stuffed and found it hard to button my jacket and ended up passing out afterwards from an MSG food coma. Several hours later, I was still full going into dinner time. Surprisingly, House of Pho has gotten better since it opened. They have expanded their menu and business has picked up. In this economy, good cheap eats where you get more bang for your buck is hard to find.
(5)Jessica Y.
Pho and Spring rolls were ok but there are not that many Pho places in the suburbs. I would probably try a Bánh mì or rice plate next time. The restaurant is spacious and located in a strip mall close to IKEA.
(3)Alex R.
Each time I come here I hope that the issues with the service I've had in the past will be but a distant memory; that the staff could redeem this place for me with service that would knock my socks off. Each time, my hopes have been dashed. Slow service and impersonal and sometimes outright crabby wait staff are what I will remember about House of Pho. If the servers aren't slow, they're not very nice; If they're nice, they're also slow. During the times that we've dined here we've had a server spill soup on our table and also on a person in our party without so much as offering an apology; we've had a server bring out a dish that had egg in it even when our friend specifically requested that the dish be served without egg; and on more than one occasion, we had to wait a very long time to get our food out to our table. We have had some nice servers, but as I said before, when they've been nice, they've also been slow. On our last visit, we had to ask the server more than once to bring out straws and the dishes we ordered. For example, my sister ordered the lunch special pho, which comes with an egg roll and soup (which we were told they could bring out as an accommodation because pho is already a soup, even though the lunch special is SUPPOSED TO come with soup anyways - that's why it's a lunch "special.") The server didn't bring those out until the end of our meal, after having asked more than once. Just getting seated is sometimes a mission in and of itself at House of Pho. For example, on our last visit, nobody greeted us when we walked in. I stood around while several staff members walked around looking busy without actually doing anything. I had to seek out a staff member who was not a host just so I could ask for a table. As for the food, the only item worth ordering (aside from the banh mi described below) is the restaurant's namesake dish, pho. It's flavorful and you get a pretty big bowl. Stay away though from the Crispy Szechuan Beef because it is not crispy and is overpriced at $12.95. Once, when I was feeling adventurous, I also ordered Pad Thai at this Vietnamese restaurant (gasp), and while the portion size was large, the Pad Thai was heavily coated in sauce and too sweet. However, House of Pho will keep us coming back just for its banh mi offerings. The sandwiches are flavorful and the portions are big. They even have a special of buy 5 get one 1 free. And at $3.90 a pop, you can't go wrong. We'll take those to go though as I don't think we'll be dining inside again.
(2)Rich M.
I went with a friend and got a pork chop rice and my friend got the pho lunch/ dinner special. The food was ok, but it wasn't till we left and at night i realized that my friend never got his soup or the plate of cilanto, bean sprount and jalepenos. Really confused why they only gave him half of the combo
(2)Bens M.
Good eats! Was actually surprised at how good the pho was compared to other suburban joints! Will definitely come back soon!
(4)Jessica P.
Rating: 3.5 .. i still like Pho Ha a tad bit better! I came here on a Sunday with a group of people for a late lunch at around 1:30PM, glad we made it in time just for the lunch special (ends at 2PM). House of Pho honors lunch specials all week long (yay!).. Food Food Food!!! -Pho ($7.00): the regular size pho, you can choose your options of meat and the price is still the same... -Bahnmi sandwiches (~$3-$4): I tried it before when I came here and it was pretty good.. Big portions on normal size Pho as well..but doesn't seem that much bigger than the lunch special pho... Lunch Specials ($5.95) - served with vegetable egg roll and tom yum or egg drop soup -Pho with choice of beef or chicken with cilantro and onion: tasted good; however, a little oily...so if you like the fat from the meat dripping into the soup (which i assume most ppl enjoy...fat makes things taste better??).. i guess you'll enjoy the oil in the soup (I'm just not much of a oil/fat fan)...my friend ordered the seafood pho and her soup was definitely not as oily as mine...it was normal...so that's why i conclude that the oil is from the meat.. **note: they don't provide you with the additional meat options as they do with the normal size Pho since it is a lunch special --------the jalapenos were hottttttt....so be careful not to add too much if you can't handle hotness :).. i guess this can vary tho since they probably buy the ingredients at different times... -Pork chop with steamed rice: I haven't tried it, but just thought I would let you guys know what else was on the lunch special... -Rice vermicelli noodles: a friend tried it and said it was good... it did look like A LOT of food!! The portions for the lunch specials were huge..pretty big...definitely left content.....no need to order regular size pho... Customer Service: was A-OK... Atmosphere: nice place to come with friends and/or family..it's a fairly new restaurant so the decor inside is nice... --If i'm craving Pho and i'm too lazy to go to Pho Ha.. I would come here again...:)
(3)Genevieve L.
The prices here are extremely reasonable! Last time I was here, I ordered a banh mi, pho and iced coffee. The bill was only around $15 and I left completely full. I liked the cilantro and pickled flavor of the vegetables in the banh mi and the pho had just enough of the lemongrass and mint flavors without it tasting like a dessert. I also really liked the iced coffee. It tastes bitter enough to wake you up but still has a sweet flavor. I wish they served bigger portions of this.
(5)Dee L.
Great pho, broth is excellent Banh mi sandwiches good too Service is great when they aren't too busy They are always friendly and have more help then they had before
(4)Wesley H.
Been there many times. One of the best places for someone who loves Pho/Noodle for lunch in west suburb. Pro: 1) Decent Pho for decent price 2) Very-Asian-like indoor decoration and TV Con: 1) Pho's taste vary by day. What I mean by that? Well, I love their No.11 so I order it often. I was there last Monday, the No.11 I had is a bit spicy. I was there today, the No.11 I had is bit sour and not-that-salty. I assume Chefs in kitchen take rotation, but thats not quite expected. 2) Service is moderate. It seems they don't smile a lot.

Craving Vietnamese food? DON'T come here! It's a bad sign if you come to a Vietnamese restaurant and there are no Vietnamese people. The staff here were definitely not and I'm pretty sure the chefs in the kitchen aren't either. The boyfriend and I were feeling under the weather and craving some pho. We didn't feel like driving to the city to hit up our usual spots so we came here instead. We ordered chicken pho, egg rolls and spring rolls. We also tried the Thai iced tea and cold Vietnamese coffee. The egg rolls looked and tasted more like lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) than Vietnamese egg rolls. The spring rolls had the wrong type of dipping sauce. The pho broth was not very flavorful and did not come with the usual ginger dipping sauce. When we asked for the right dipping sauce, the waitress didn't know what we were talking about. She even went to the kitchen to ask and came back empty-handed. Even the Thai iced tea and coffee didn't taste right. If you've ever been to a Vietnamese restaurant, you'll be very disappointed coming here. The food here only vaguely resembles what you're expecting. Nothing tastes right. It's now two days later and I'm still craving some real pho. Guess I'll have to drive all the way to the city for some real Vietnamese food.

My friends and I go to the HoP (as one of my friends affectionately calls it now) at least once a month. I haven't tried many items from their menu; I almost always get the lunch special beef pho. Their pho is delicious, second only to my friend's mom's homemade pho. Their smoothies are great too! Sometimes service may be slow or lacking - which is mostly due to the place being busy every single time we visit. Nevertheless, they've always been patient with my group's disorganized and separated orders - always very nice and polite as well.
(5)Rebecca B.
Yesterday we just couldn't get warm at the office so I said to my co-worker, "Let's go get some nice hot Pho and warm up". She had never had Pho before so I excited to introduce her to a beautiful, warm, comforting dish. After reading the reviews we decided on House of Pho. The place was casual and we were seated quickly. We decided on the Pho lunch special that included 2 egg rolls for $6.95. I got the beef and my friend had the chicken. The big bowl of steaming Pho arrived quickly, visually I had high hopes for the soup. It looked good. It came with a plate of bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno peppers and limes to add to the Pho. The egg rolls though left a lot to be desired. They were about the diameter of a nickel and served with a boring sweet chili sauce. I broke one open to see the ingredients. All I saw was one piece of carrot and dough. They were supposed to be filled with pork, shrimp, veggies. I passed on that and went for the Pho. YIKES! So sweet!!! I saw my friend grimace at her first taste too. We added all the sides ingredients and a bit of soy. Still so sweet. I added a some Siracha, it helped tone it down, but not really. The broth being sweet was otherwise flavorless. The beef was thin as it should be but tough. How disappointing. After reading the reviews it makes me wonder if this one day was a fluke. I have lived in Asia for many years. It seems as though this area struggles with Asian food as a whole. Are these places trying to dictate to American tastes or what? I wish they wouldn't. Stick to being authentic. So much better that way. My friend also ordered a sandwich to go, a combination with 3 meats. As it turns out it was mostly veggies with one small piece of chicken, one small piece of beef and one small piece of pork. She will not be going back either.
(1)Inc O.
Very disappointing. I used to come here often, haven't been here for a year or so- the service was horrible- the waiter messed up every single item we ordered. We ordered seafood pho and pad thai to share. The pad thai comes with soup so we asked for tom yum. She comes back with egg drop soup. More than that when we said that we ordered tom yum and not egg drop soup she replied: quote " why you didn't like egg drop, all white people like it" excuses me: white people??? Whaaaattt???? I specifically ordered tom yum.. Next , diet coke with NO ice- sure- diet coke with ice... Pho to share- can we get a bowl- she brings dining plates.... I looked at her and said we would Like to share the soup... She was still Confused... Brought another bowl... I said can I get a bigger spoon... Didn't get it.. Brought another spoon... Diet coke refill with no ice- sure enough with ice.... The food wasn't good at all!! Long story short we are not coming back!!!
(1)Vivek D.
Great joint to get Pho. The services is quick and the broth is just right. The Bánh mì sandwiches are good for those that have never had one its worth a try.
(4)Frank A.
I'm so glad I came back... over and over and over and almost twice a week! Everything suddenly was on point! I don't get it. Was it a bad day or something? It must be because everything I ordered, repeatedly I might add, has been great! I always get this combo plate that includes pork chops, Chinese sausage, loaf, shredded pork and it hit's the spot every time. Their Pho has been on point too. One of the sleeper favs and I highly recommend is the Ban Xeo. GET IT! I sort of describe it as a crispy crepe (a lil greasy, but it's awesome) it's stuffed with shrimp, pork and other goodies. The crepe takes me back to my childhood, where my grandpa used to make crepes every morning. Dude, I've hit this place too many times to count. Just goes to show that sometimes, you just need to come back...
(5)ChiefSlapaho E.
Tried this place for the first time today. It's good, but I feel the other Pho joint I reviewed earlier this month tastes better. This place is definitely cheaper. So there is that. Coworker who came with me asked for no onions. Got onions... she picked them out. She could have walked back into the kitchen and started stabbing people with chop sticks screaming "No onions means No Onions!!! Aaarrrgggghhhh." She is calmer than I am. 3 stars plus 1 for clearing out my sinuses.
(4)Wan Wan L.
We came here just for the pho because we heard it's one of the best in the neighborhood. We ordered two spring rolls (~$3.75 each), and three orders of lunch size pho (~$6.25 each). The prices are very reasonable for the proportions we got. Spring rolls were fresh and delicious. And the pho is not disappointing! The broth tastes really delicious and they give you lots of basil, lime and sprouts! The only downside is that the beef in the noodle was very dry and flavorless. Wish there would also be beef tendon and stuff in the soup too. Definitely will come here again for the comforting pho.
(4)don l.
Poor service ! Service person is grouchy ! And seem doesn't like working here. Pho base is great but meat portions were stingy even if you compared to less than a handful Vietnamese restaurants from Michigan what more if I compare it to pho meat from a hole in a wall Resto in California ! Tom yun had two pieces of mussel two half fish balls and a slice of imitation crab meat to be called seafood bowl ! For 7.50$ Really ?! Two stars for the broth !
(2)Eric C.
great place, great price, amazing flavors...totally awesome place, feeds three under 30$ & you get full! I highly recommend this place
(5)Sou P.
A great PHO place: tasty, clean, and priced right. ;) The broth was so good -- beefy and flavorful -- we almost forgot about the add-ons: a squirt of lime juice, Hoisin and Sriracha sauces, and a few slices of jalapeno pepper. It's said that the broth is the life of PHO. Well, they have it...pretty much (and plenty of rice noodles to go with it, too). The whole experience was "refreshingly filling" for this PHO-savvy, hungry family.

This place is great. The food is really good. If you are looking for a place with soup, this is the best place. If you aren't, this is still a great place. The food was really good and the price was great. Their were 12 of us and they brought the food out very fast. The ambiance was also great. This place is great!
(5)Nicole M.
I tired Pho for the 1st time! Started off with pot stickers, which were good! And Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which I really didn't care for... They were kind of weird to me... haha My boyfriend and I shared a bowl of Pho considering its huge and it was our 1st time trying it. It was a little different and a little over whelming with all the choices and I didn't really know what was good and what to do... But I think we kinda figured it out and we enjoyed it. And to top it off, sooo cheap!
(4)Zhong Y.
The pho is surprisingly good for suburban eating. A very healthy serving of noodles. A lot of tendon in mine, which is rare to see, and which I liked, and also chock full of meat. Some might say a bit too heavy on the meats. It's a bit far for us but it beats driving down to Pho Ha in Glendale Hts or again, going into the city. Also I love that this is a Vietnamese place with Mandarin speaking Chinese staff and frequented mostly by Koreans.
(4)Anya C.
good food. reasonable price. good portion.
(4)Vava B.
Love The House of Pho! The owner is always SO sweet...the Pho soup makes my tummy oh so happy!
(5)Erik Z.
This is the best place for PHO in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. The Size of the bowl will cover you for lunch and dinner. I love the food here and make it a weekly tradition to come here with my coworkers for lunch.
(5)Esther K.
Com Dac Biet 5 Mon was not bad. I just wished the egg wasn't over fried. Having more yolk will help to mix the vegetables and meats with the rice. Pad Thai with shrimp was okay. It really wasn't anything special. The Pho was very bland. The Pho at Asian Noodle House had more flavor than this thing. The broth tasted very clean, but lacked so much flavor. You can't even taste the cilantro... Their sandwiches are good. I had the one with pork and it was delicious. Their taro smoothie with tapioca is definitely worth a try!
(3)Dan B.
Went here for lunch, was disappointed but not surprised there weren't many vegetarian options here. Went with pad thai with tofu, tasted a bit bland and sauce was not what I usually expect with pad thai. Server said egg drop soup was vegetarian (made with "just egg") but was not sure about that so passed on eating as most recipes are made with chicken broth. Was very disappointed with the HK milk tea as I have been looking for it in the suburbs and it was part of the reason why I came out to House of Pho in the first place. Do not get the milk tea, trust me -- it is powdered, foamy, and nasty! Wait until your next visit to Chinatown instead.
(2)Jeff G.
Ate here for the second time tonight, brought the wife. Apps were awesome and Pho was great. But the service was amazing, just as they delivered or Pho we got a call had to leave for a family emergency. The staff packed everything up to go immediately while they ran the check. Got home and discovered they even add some extras! We will definitely be back and will spread the word. Good Pho is great, amazing service and understanding is what makes them great! Thanks so much, be back soon!
(5)Sang L.
This place always has good food, good prices, and good service. The kung pao chicken actually looks and taste like kung pao chicken. The fried rice is better than most places. However, the pad thai is disgusting. I advise you not get that if your a big pad thai fan.
(4)Mike N.
Great and cheap :)
(5)David L.
Yes it is BYOB, we took a nice white wine and they provided glasses and wine opener with no corkage fee. Food is really good, service was awesome, I left a 30% tip because the bill was not high enough.
(4)Grace K.
I absolutely love Pho! In my hometown it is our go to meal. So I was presently surprised when I walked in and the delicious aroma made me instantly feel like I was right back home. We had their traditional fresh springrolls to start, they were very fresh and tasty and the peanut sauce seemed homemade. When the pho finally arrived, I was ecstatic to recieve a huge bowl, of delicious, delicious soup. The broth is the #1 make or break for me with pho, and theirs was a notch above many that I've had before. Definitely can't wait to go back! It's my new remedy for homesickness.
(4)Chai K.
Not bad... Spring rolls were great. Plenty of tendon in the combo pho, where others go cheap. They messed up by giving me the wrong noodles though. Tried their Pad Thai too. I'd stick to the Vietnamese food.
(3)Suzan K.
Love this place. Has some cheap lunch and dinner specials and even better is that the specials are available on weekends. The tom yum soup I hear isn't all that great but the egg drop is decent. But it's free with your special so why not. I've only had the Vietnamese specials. The pho is one of the better ones around this area. The pork chop meal is 2 pork chops with a bowl of rice. My new favorite is the rice vermicelli noodles. Not sure how it compares to other places but it's something different and will be great on a hot, summer day.
(5)Andy W.
What can I say. I love Pho (or as I like to call it - Vietnamese ramen). I don't have a lot to compare out here in the suburbs but the Pho I have here tastes damn good. Only ever get carryout. Portions are huge with a great price. The restaurant seems nice and they are always super friendly while I wait for my order. I haven't tried anything else (no need) but the menu has a few Thai and Chinese items if you don't like Vietnamese.
(4)Rod D.
You would have thought you were in Vietnamese town (Argyle) when you eat at this place. The pho is authentic and delicious. The rice vermicilli (bun) is also as good if not better than some Vietnamese restaurants on Argyle. Whatever you end up getting at this place, you can't go wrong. A plus for this place is it also have Thai and some Chinese dishes if you feel like changing it up every now and then. Definitely a place to go for sure in the burbs!
(5)Gregory B.
The noodles were probably as good as I have ever had. But the chicken was pre cooked and old. We are getting used to this in Chicago. Poultry just isn't the thing here. Our bet is that this is an excellent restaurant if you eat beef. But there is no excuse for pre cooking chicken. The flavors from the raw chicken permeate the broth when you cook it in pho. When it is pre cooked, all of that is lost. They surely wouldn't do that with beef. Even worse was the stale taste of the old chicken. Again, no excuse.
(2)Minjee Y.
The food here is mediocre. The prices seem to have gone up a little from what I remember. The service sucked on a Sunday afternoon. I wish I would've went some place else. Although you can't control the atmosphere you're in (loud crying kids who fling food across your table) you can control how people are seated and I did not appreciate that the host would seat a couple (me) right behind a family with a naughty toddler. Oh well... We'll try again and hopefully it's better. P.S. you will most likely have to repeatedly ask for something if you need it even when your server comes around to ask you if you need anything. otherwise try flagging down another server or take it upon yourself to get up and get it yourself.
(3)Boon K.
I'm surprise to a good pho place in the burbs but this place had good pho as it was full of favor and the best part it was not greasy which I find at the places in argyle. Also the grill pork sandwich was also really good too. Alvina love the avocado tapioca so next time I have to try another tapioca drink.
(4)Zwee H.
Fast, fresh, filling food w. pleasant staff. Lunch can get busy so try showing up after 12:45 during the week. Lunch specials go till 2:30 so you don't have to rush. The bahn mi sandwiches are very filling and very portable, great for take-away.
(5)Sheryl T.
Tank Noodle is now 45 miles away from me, and it's one of the top reasons why moving to the northwest suburbs was a huge bummer. But thanks to House of Pho, I now am not too sad. The Bun Bo Hue is a perfect blend of spicy, salty and sweetness all in one bowl! The lemongrass broth is a bit greasy, but something that can be overlooked by dumping extra bean sprouts in the soup. They include a generous amount of protein which consists of blood cakes, tendon and flank. A once a week Pho fix keeps the winter blues away, and no other place in the northwest suburbs who does it better than House of Pho.
(4)Tina L.
Our go to pho place in the northwest burbs! Where do you wanna go for dinner tonight? I don't care. Surprise me. What a pleasant surprise! Even though we come here quite often, I will always be happy with a hot steaming bowl of pho and maybe some egg rolls or another dish to give my meal some variety. Today we had the salt and pepper pork chops. I know this is our third time but we just can't bring ourselves to order something else on the menu to try because we really like getting both those dishes. Hehe.
(5)Cherry L.
I absolutely hate the banh mi. I ordered 5 of the house special and got one for free and it was soggy due to the soaked carrots. It was disgusting. You are better of getting your banh mi from Argle in the city. They are also advertising pictures of food on the menu they don't even serve. I wanted a banh mi that looks like the one in the picture but they didn't make that one. I didn't know what is was called but is looked so mouth watering delicious! Then the lady told me they didn't make that one tat they put in the picture. Their banh mi are like the knock offs. These people aren't even Vietnamese in the front counter. I wonder if the cooks are or if they just know how to make Viet food. Anyways, the house special pho is good. Its very little meat but a lot of noodles. The only thing I love about the house special pho is the broth. Omg the soup is good! I'll just come here for the broth tho. Mmm. But other than that don't plan on getting the banh mi again OR the fresh smoothie. This lady was popping black ,spoiled, ugly and rotten strawberries in the blender . Then after she put them in the blender she looked over the counter to see if I saw her picking the bad strawberries and of course I did. The whole batch of strawberries were bad and she gave me really bad ones. Like seriously having fresh fruits for smoothie is a must when you make smoothie drinks at a restaurant. Stop being lazy and feeding customer shitty foods. Go out and buy a fresh batch and the smoothie tasted watered down with iced and tons of sugar.
(3)Donna V.
Every time we're in the area, we ALWAYS stop in for pho. The atmosphere is quiet and the wait staff are always friendly. We ordered their Vietnamese Crispy Eggrolls and it's nothing like the picture. The picture shows 4 eggrolls and the size is comparable to regular size eggrolls. The ones who got was about the size of my finger and about 1" in diameter. Kind of disappointing; only enough for one bite each. The broth of the pho is good but I like my pho sour so I had to ask for lots of lime. It also sucks that they don't have fish sauce and garlic oil pepper at the table, you have to ask for it every time. All in all, pretty good place to eat pho.
(4)Candice M.
By far the best shrimp fried rice and beef chow fun in the burbs! Also love their Vietnamese Crispy Egg rolls (the best!) everything I've tried here is delish! Now my go to Asian take out! .... Take out period actually!
(5)Nguyen d.
Ordered their pho and it was delicious!! I will definitely come here again. Great service too!
(5)Erik H.
So apparently someone said they made their portions smaller; I can't confirm or deny that but I can say that if that's really the case then they must have been bankrupting themselves previously. It's so much food, guys. At least the pho is. And it's excellent pho to boot, which doesn't hurt. One tip - I would recommend against ordering the special with the pho. Normally the special comes with a spring roll and soup, but if your entree is pho then you don't get the soup but it's the same price. So not really a deal there. Silly me for trying.
(4)kG C.
I came in at 11:35am with no one inside the restaurant except one couple who already had been served. I ordered 3 banh mis and 2 smoothies to go. The lady in the front took a phone order around 11:40am while I was waiting. Around that time 3 lunch crowd groups started walking in. At 11:50am I saw a pickup order, but the lady tells me it's for the phone order and banh mis take longer to make. How does putting a sandwich together take longer than two lunch specials? At 11:55am, I see the server bringing out two banh mis to the lunch crowd group and that's where I lost my shit. I started grabbing my head as the inconsistencies of how they cook their orders was making me furious. My legs started bulging and my shirt was ripping off my chest as I started increasing in size. My skin started morphing green as I screamed "I JUST WANTED SOME FRIGGEN SANDWICHES!" I woke up dazed and in front of a pile of wreckage that might have formerly been a respectable establishment. I did however have a bag of banh mis finally in my hand so I guess everything worked out. I put my ripped purple shorts back on, grabbed my bag of banh mis and hitchhiked my way back home.

Disappointed I've been going to this place since they opened. This was my first time back in months and boy are they slipping. Service is slow, food isn't as good as it used to be. Is there new management? New owners? New cooks? Definitely new staff. The sandwich bread was hard as rock, the pho had way too many noodles, the tendons were too chewy. Appetizers came out a different times. This was the closest pho place by me and it saddens me that it's losing its quality
(2)Daniel M.
Pretty good pho noodle. So so on other food.
(3)John P.
last Sunday, My family went there. Great food, but they overcharged 3 of 4 menus.. $1 more for each pho, $2 more for orange chicken from the dinner price on the menu. Be careful!! if you go there, have to check the bill you receive...
(1)Kiel J.
Lunch here has been very enjoyable. The spring rolls are amazing. The pho is beautifully made and delicious. The prices are pretty good, I ordered off of the lunch menu which was $3 cheaper than the dinner price and the portion was perfect. Definitely coming back.
(4)Keith T.
So so pho place. Opened by Chinese people and don't expect much since it is in the suburbs
(3)Janice B.
Very first time here making a to go order and called for phone, bahn xeo and chicken wings. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. When I got there at 20 minutes I was told to take another 10 minutes because of the bahn xeo. Not a great first impression. This is an egg crepe takes 30 minutes seems kind of odd. I was told to relax and wait without even an offer to maybe throw an egg roll or something else in. Once I bought the food home it was all pretty good. There could have been a little more basil and fresh cilantro. So at least the meal was tasty. Viet house may have them beat on the broth though
(3)Bob R.
I was really pleased with this restaurant. It's gotten mixed reviews, but while out last night I decided I wanted Pho and I was close by. The place is nothing to look at. It's in a small strip mall. The interior is kind of plain. The menu is small. In fact, I decided when first arriving that I really wanted Bahn Mi but didn't see it on the menu. I decided to order Bun Cha Glo Dac Biet - Vermicelli noodles with shrimp, beef, vegetables, chopped peanuts and an egg roll. The Vietnamese egg roll is smaller than the Chinese one - more on the lines of a Filipino egg roll. The fish sauce was very good. But, I have to say the shrimp were better than what I've had in most places. They really were outstanding. I noticed a sign on the table after ordering that listed their Bahn Mi sandwiches which were not on the menu. We ended up ordering four to take home to lunch the next day. Since I'm writing this after eating one of them, they were quite good. House of Pho is not as close to my home as To Pho, but not too much further. Prices are about equal. Food quality is about the same, and the selections are pretty close. I'll try it again to see which I prefer, but they are about equal for now.

This place has recently gone down hill fast. I used to love this place and have ordered take out from here at least 20 times. My last 3 orders were awful. I got the beef Pad Woo Sen and the Hunan Chicken. The Pad Woo Sen had almost no meat and the beef was chewy and flavorless. The fried rice that comes with the Hunan Chicken had a very odd taste and smell to it, almost like it was rancid and I had to throw it away. The order before this one I got the Mixed Vegetable and they had a weird slimy texture to them. I've had the Pho before, i don't know what all the hype is about. It was average at best and broth is flavorless. I will not be wasting my money here again.
(2)Diana K.
This place never disappoints. If you want something different than pho, try the crispy szchwauen beef. It's delicious!!
(5)Mark V.
Service here is absolutely awesome food is great! I came here with an entourage of 5, we ordered each different entres and they serve it like its a FEAST!! For appetizers their eggrolls are to die for with a sweet and sour dip and I wanted more of it. Yes the Pho' hits the spot but Im a seafood lover so I ordered the SALT"N"PEPPER SHRIMP and I asked for the same dipping sauce that came with the eggrolls. Well enough of my blabbing but I give this new store 5 stars out of 4 because the service was IMPECABLY ATTENTIVE the food is AUTHENTHIC & TASTEFUL!! If you guys come here ask to get served by Andrea! :) Hope you guys have a great time and enjoy the food :)
(5)Ionko G.
At least one of their delivery people is incompetent enough to not know what a gated community is and how to use a 4 digit code to make a delivery.
(1)Nikki T.
The food here is soooooo good! Just thinking about their Pho makes my mouth water! When we first pull up to this little strip mall where the restaurant is, I was thinking to myself "hmmm....this will probably me an experience..." and I did not think it was going to be a good experience. But I was very presently surprised! The energy of the restaurant is great! The staff is extremely friendly! Smiling and making sure you have everything we need! Our drinks were always filled and the staff was always checking in to make sure everything tasted good, and it did! My boyfriend and I always get a bowl of Pho. How do you go to a place called the house of pho and not get a bowl? I get the simple bowl with strips of beef. The broth is delicious. It's seasoned so well! The broth can be so bland sometimes at other places but not here! And the beef strips were tender and juicy! I like to top my pho with jalapenos, Saracha, and bean sprouts . The boyfriend gets some funky pho with sea food and some kind of blood protein. It definitely doesn't sound appetizing to me but he loves it! Haha. We also split a Bahn Mi Sandwich which is the bomb.com ! The portions here are HUGE! Make sure you come here wearing your fat pants!
(4)Rocelle H.
Found my new favorite Pho joint! The ambience is just amazing. I've been to a lot of pho places, and majority of them look run-down, or at least the place needs a paint job (sorry) - but the moment you enter, you're not even going to think it's gonna be so nice and home-y inside. The food is great! I came here twice. Once I had the lunch special pork chop, and the second time, I had the beef pho. The service is pretty good too, they were friendly and really nice. House of Pho is definitely in the top of my list every time I get a Pho craving :)
(5)Issac T.
We have been frequenting this place since it opened. The food is good and decent priced we love the Bun Bo hue and order this frequently.
(5)Victoria W.
I felt a bit melancholy coming here because I really miss Bamboo Garden, the Indo-Chinese restaurant that used to be at this location. The lovely decor is all thanks to BG. But oh well. A steaming bowl of pho helped with the grieving process :) I ordered my pho with tofu instead of meat, and my partner ordered his without noodles. They were totally fine doing the alterations. Portions were enormous. The broth wasn't the best I've had, but good stuff. They were also able to make a bahn mi with tofu for me! Loved the bread they used--soft, just lightly toasted. The filling had some tasty flavors going on, though somehow it was still kind of bland. If I'd thought of using the oyster sauce on the table, that would've made it perfect. Enjoyed the tofu spring rolls and the peanut sauce that comes with it. They were even willing to give me extra sauce when packing it up to go, yesss! One thing I hope they improve on is the seats--ours had rips in it. Not a big deal, but if they want to maintain the nice ambiance instead of slowly devolving into a hole in the wall, they're going to have to spend a little on upkeep. The hand-scrawled "$10 minimum on credit cards!" sign also detracted from the classiness. But maybe I'm just being nitpicky now. Btw: if you end up getting your pho packed up to go, remove the basil first. Otherwise it gets really bitter after a few hours. At least, I *think* that was the source of the bitterness. Maybe it was the lime?

First impression when I walked in was how dirty the floors felt. Felt sticky, grainy and there was always food underneath the table. The second impression was the restroom. Seriously, clean them from top to bottom. I do wonder, as well as others, if the same care is given to the restrooms, then what surprises lurk in the kitchen. As for the food, I wasn't impressed. My grilled chicken was cold and tough. Egg roll was very hard to chew. It wasn't extremely terrible, but I've been to better pho restaurants which felt more inviting and had better food quality. The lunch price was good, I'll give that one stars. However, No stars for cleanest. Sorry to be blunt. Hope this helps. As for the Pho it was just ok. The reviews that boasted the Pho either never had good pho or have different taste buds. But one things is for sure...It should come out Fresh and Hot. The owner seems nice but I don't want to be bias in this review.
(1)Erick P.
I was hung over and was in need of some pho. I live in the burbs and there isnt many PHO places around, I went here with no expectations. The Pho was amazing and beyond normal proportions. I got the lunch special pho and 2 people can split it. My girlfriend got the shrimp/ vegetable stir fry and her food was delicious as well. The food gets 5 stars but the interior could use a bit of an upgrade. I will def be going back..probably next week if I drink the night before lolol
(4)Dav C.
Horrible food. The crab was pressed whitefish and the pot stickers were thick, hard and way over cooked. Even soaking in sauce didn't help. In edible.
(2)Sarah S.
Oh my goodness, this is my new favorite place! The decor inside is really nice, big space, awesome 90s music which I loved, great service, but the biggest draw is definitely the food! I went here for lunch with coworkers and they all said the Pho was just delicious. I got the pad thai and the portion was just HUGE! It served as my lunch last night. It tasted a bit different then other places, not quite as fish saucy but wasamazingly delicious in a different type of way. They also seemed to cut their noodles a tad bit thicker which I liked. It is now my new favorite place for pad thai! Not to mention, the lunch special was just $5.95! I'm going to convince my lunch crew to go back as soon as possible! Actually, just decided to go with a friend today. Two days in a row isn't crazy, is it???? There is so much to try on the menu but I want to get the pad thai every time I go back! Ahhh! I highly recommend everyone starts going to this new Pho spot though! Their food is DELICIOUS!
(5)arlene c.
This place is going down hill I think it's a new owner. Food doesn't taste the same and the sandwich has less meat than usual. This place is not Asian fusion really...
(1)Peter K.
I want to give them slightly above 4 stars, but not quite 5 stars. House of Pho is co-owned by business partners from China and Vietnam, so their food is very authentic. I tried a number of dishes here, but first off, the most outstanding thing about this place is the price-to-value relationship. Most of their dishes (for dinner) range from $7 (the Pho) to about $12 (some fancier Chinese style dishes). The portions for the Pho, like other reviewers have wrote about, are HUGE. Most guys that will eat a lot will barely finish. So onto the food... Vietnamese Spring Rolls (4 stars out of 5). They contain three shrimp along with the vermicelli noodles and some vegetables. They are authentic in taste and the peanut sauce that comes along with it is fairly thick but complements the rolls well. Why is it not 5 stars? It's a little bit too chewy. I almost think it's missing something that could make it spectacular, but I don't know what it is. Pho Tai (5 stars out of 5). This was one of the biggest bowls of Pho I've ever had. The broth was truly authentic, tasty, and delicious. The thinly sliced beef that comes in it was fresh and awesome tasting. It came with a huge plate of complimentary sprouts, mint, peppers. The size of it definitely got me going and I downed it pretty fast. It will be tough trying to order something else when I'm here other than this! Hong Kong Style Milk Tea (3 stars out of 5). It's A-OK. But it's not fantastic. I was reading how the way you tell if it's authentic is it's smooth and doesn't taste too creamy. It hits on those two cylinders. I got it warm, but the downside was it wasn't sweet enough for my taste. That's probably my own fault for ordering it. I think it's worth a try but I am not sure who would like it. Service (3.5 stars out of 5). Don't get me wrong, the service isn't bad. It's slightly above average. They are a fairly new restaurant so I'm sure they are still working out a lot of the kinks. I would have preferred they come and check our water levels a bit more (but I was never dry so that was nice). I think they could do a bit more checking on the table. Every now and then, I wanted to ask the owner or waitress something but it was difficult to get their attention. We went during a non-busy dinner hour (around 7-8pm) and they weren't too swamped. Ambiance (4 stars out of 5). There are a lot of tables there and I'm not sure how they fill it all. I get the inclination that they are a lot busier during the lunch hour. But there is a lot of spacing between tables. There is nice music going on in the background. It's a nice place for a big gathering or just for a date.
(4)Rishi S.
Nice place to eat.. Difficult to find vegetarian dishes but good service and good environment
(5)Dan L.
Big fan of the Pho (duh) and the Singapore rice noodles. Broth for the pho is light and clear though could be considered more on the oily side. Generous with the meat and noodles and other "stuff" are pretty standard. My go to place for Pho in the northwest suburbs.
(4)Karen K.
Just your typical Pho place. There's nothing special about their pho. Their prices are reasonable and they give lots of the bean sprouts and basil which is a big plus. I can only really comment on the dirtiness of their dishes. Check your dishes, cups, utensils before using them. yuck!
(3)Devin P.
This place was good- definitely one of the closest pho places in the NW suburbs, but it just doesn't match up to Argyle or some of the other city spots. The fried dumplings were good even though they were really big and the dough was thicker and sweeter than usual ($2-3) and the pho was good, albeit not great. They serve beer, but when we went a month ago they didn't have their liquor license yet. The mango bubble tea was good, but the tapioca pearls were too big to fit through the straw! Likes - really cheap - one of the few in NW suburbs - waitress ran out after me w/ credit card in hand after I forgot it on the table :) thanks! Dislikes - not enough veggies with your pho - feeds your fix, but it doesn't quite fulfill Overall - the ambiance was nice and in general everything was good. I'm excited to go back soon to confirm my feelings for this place and to see what changes have been made (..please, let there be beer)
(4)Jenna K.
I went about a month ago with a friend to eat dinner. There was a reoccurring theme throughout dinner - "SALT". Everything from the pho to the tom yum soup was salty.
(2)Brett E.
The spring rolls are Twinkie sized, so don't be deceived by the pictures that make them look small.
(4)Love U.
I went to this restaurant. Let me tell you. The owner was Chinese/Vietnamese. The worst Pho in America. Only Americans liked it, because they could not tell the REAL PHO. The soup was making from beef cubic artificial not from beef bones. Most other Pho restaurants gave at least two or three basil leaves. This restaurant was so cheap. Only one basil leave. If you are Vietnamese, Please don't waste your money here. The service was horrible.
(1)Insun M.
Gotta bring it down a star. After coming to HOP about a dozen times I've noticed that the portions have gradually gotten smaller but the price stayed the same. Don't get me wrong, the portions are still generous but I feel like if they were to decrease portion size then they should follow suit and decrease the price accordingly. Also, the quality has just gone down. The meats in the beef pho were originally really good with no large fatty parts or stringy veins but lately they've been appearing in my bowls. No bueno. Look at the number of my check ins! I know what I'm talking about. Good food but falling quality.
(4)Anas F.
The food was okay but the service was pretty bad. We waited like 2 minutes to be seated because they didnt notice we were standing there by the front!! After the food arrived the waitress didnt even come back to check how we like the food or if we need something!! The food was good tho just being honest.
(2)YouDontknow Y.
We came to this place following the really good reviews on Yelp, and then - unimpressed. I understand that different restaurants have different recipe for their pho broth, but the broth in this place is very, VERY bland. We missed the rich flavors in some other places, and will not come back to this place again.
(2)Aimee M.
Fresh Spring rolls, Pho Tai, and a tall glass of Iced Coffee. A great way to spend a peaceful and lazy late lunch. The strip mall facade is misleading. The inside is much more spacious and sleeker than what you'd guess from the outside. Soft Asian music piping overhead--it was a nice place to wind down after shopping. I was greeted enthusiastically when I entered and a highchair for the bubs was instantly brought to the booth. Midweek at 1pm the place had a steady stream of lunching folk but not so much that the place seemed crowded. Started with the fresh spring rolls (rice vermicelli, pork and shrimp) with peanut sauce. They were well wrapped and super fresh. The rice paper not too sticky. You get two rolls per order, and they're def hefty and not wimpy. Get more peanut sauce if you need it. The Pho Tai was very good. The thing that impressed me most was that there was quite a lot of beef. The noodles were a bit overdone, but the thinly sliced beef was tasty and the broth was fragrant and delicious. I ordered a coconut bubble smoothie to go (cuz I love drinking my calories) and found it very tasty and very refreshing, icy and rich from the coconut milk and not at all watered down. Definitely a family friendly restaurant, but not in a restaurant-chainy-throw-a-childrens-menu-and-some-Âcrayons-at-you kind of way. It's Service was very friendly and helpful and I appreciated that they asked me if the bubs needed anything (even though it was pretty apparent that he had his own packed lunch). Anyplace that dotes on the bubs is stellar in my book.

Cheap lunches =]] happy happy day Had pho, eggrolls, 2bubble tea, egg drop soup and pad thai under 30 for two people

Food is yummy. Price is really good. Especially lunch special. A big bowl of beef rice noodle soup is only $6.25. Pai thai is also my favorite. All of my friends like their rice noodle soup. Waiter is always friendly.

Gave this place a try as it is closer to where we live now. But I used to live closer to Pho Ha in Glendale Heights and that has always been my go-to place for pho. And with it being the only other Viet restaurant I've been to. It's all I have to compare too. Service was standard. Nothing extraordinary about it. I did like the mango smoothie with tapioca. It actually had the thick consistency instead of watery with the flavor powder in it. Price wise is consistent with Pho Ha ... $7 for a large bowl of pho. This will satisfy the craving if it does kick in, but I'm definitely more of a fan of Pho Ha in Glendale Heights. 3.5 stars.. I'll round up, because I really like pho when it's getting cold out (the weather right now!)

I've been coming regularly since opening day, as you can see from my checkins. The food has just gotten better, the service has gone from pretty good to very consistently excellent, and the atmosphere is very nice. One of the best asian restaurants in the suburbs in my opinion.

This is a place to get some pho-king good food! We have been here a few times since finding it a couple months ago. Our old stand-by is Asian Noodle House (have been going there for over 10 years) and while the food there is good, we end up feeling rushed with them bringing apps and entrees out at the same time - you don't get that feeling here and you get a chance to enjoy your apps without your entrees getting cold. That being said, the appetizers here are amazing. The Vietnamese spring rolls are fresh, light, and tasty. But the star of the appetizer show are the potstickers. Oh-Em-Gee! They are pho-king incredible! They are the best I have had, in or out of Chinatown! Perfect sear on the outside, but the filling rocks my world. Flavorful, juicy, and tender - so often potsticker fillings are dense hard meatballs...NOT these! I am drooling right now thinking of them! Their Pho is good - on par with ANH. The broth here is better, but the sliced beef at ANH seems more tender than the beef here. Serving size for the pho is large and we usually bring some home as leftovers, we would be able to finish it if we skipped the apps....but that's not going to happen - we love the spring rolls and potstickers too much!

Dinner Pho One, Please. In case you haven't heard, dining solo is the new black. Or at least that's what I tell myself whenever I enter a restaurant alone and they try to seat me in the farthest corner of the universe like my leprosy isn't curable or something. And then all the sad faces and pointing from staff that follow can really make it feel like being a party of one is more like a freak show... but not at House of Pho, strangely. Strange not because I was welcomed with open arms by many smiling faces (even on a pretty busy Sunday day) and sat in a prime booth spot right by the window and amidst many twosomes, threesomes, foursomes and more-somes (Yay- It's like I'm real people)!, But strange because the portions here on any given dish are NOT meant for one person (besides the bubble tea, which is always a 1 person affair as their can never be enough). I'm taking HUGE, son. I'd been wanting to try House of Pho for quite some time now, but had managed to put it off for fear of not having any options as a vegetarian. Today I finally grew a pair and called ahead to see if they could accommodate my meatless meal request- and they were game! Though you'll defo get some crazy stares if you inquire about veggie Pho, and I can't and won't dock them for being authentic. I woudn't give a steakhouse a lower rating for not having veggie options and I'm not going complain about not being able to take part in the Pho at a Vietnamese restaurant... but I will tell you about the torturous time I had watching everyone else getting these MASSIVE bowls of piping hot Pho with all the fixins made only more tempting by the seductive slurping sounds from every direction. For the love of God, if you go to House of Pho: GET THE PHO-KING PHO!!! I have a feeling I'll be on my death bed one day regretting not taking a day off from being a vegetarian to have this Pho. So on to what I did actually eat... Vegetable Springs Rolls: At $3.50, I wasn't expecting to get so much phoking food. There were "only" 2 spring rolls but they were bigger than even the most giant kielbasa and they were packed tight. I enjoyed the crap out of them only noting 2 main things: #1. That one order of spring rolls and a bubble tea is probably enough food for a normal human being to become full with and #2. that this might be a dish for the ladies to stay away from on a first date as you don't get a knife and shoving those fat rolls in your face *might* not be the kind of way you want to portray yourself to a potential suitor. Lucky for me, I am not a lady and I was all by lonesome so I sucked those puppies down without fear of giving "the wrong idea", or whatever that means- though I did get some big eyes from the family in the corner. Sorry, but they were damn good spring rolls and I'll eat them as inappropriately as I like. Coconut Bubble Tea: Aaand boom goes the dynamite. Xao Xa Ot (Spicy Thai): I got it with big heaping slabs of tofu (though beef, chicken and shrimp are also options) and without my even having to ask for it to be extra spicy, they actually made it spicy- something of a rarity these days and also something I worship. Go spicy or go home is my motto. And I don't even know where to start with the portion size, but I guess saying that I don't even know how I'm going to finish is more appropriate. I ate some at HoP for lunch, I ate another bowl at home for dinner, I'm eating more for 4th meal right now, and I'm still going to be able to squeeze 2 more meals out of it. Spicy Thai for 1 turned out to enough for 2... hundred... million. Channeling Kobayashi and solving the world hunger sitch in one pholl swoop, pho sure. As far as flavors go, it taste unlike any other Thai I've had before- probably because it had Vietnamese and Chinese cooking styles blended, but it was still very fresh and lord knows it was filling. Win! FANTASTIC Service: Hello, Smiles! Friendliest pho.king people ever! Great service in a shiny environment makes Candi a happy girl. This mother pho.cker will def be back!

2014 update. Lunch hours short and erratic. Try Yu's till 3, or Asian Noodle House or Viet House that serve the same menu all day. ----- Update: 10/101/13 Had several too salty phos lately, and service seems very irregular like forgetting to serve the little egg roll appetizer if a manager isn't around. I'll be glad when Linda gets BACK from vacation, minus one star. I like some HEAT in my pho, but NOT salty pho. ---- Been wanting to get here for awhile and had a taste for noodle soup, so headed out by myself. Large dining space with sunny window booths and tables. Lunch specials are $6 and Dinner $8 and you will be filled. I added two spring rolls to my lunch special and took one home. Pho lunch special comes with a small thin egg roll and bean sprout salad with jalapeno, lime and basil. The broth was not over salted, and the rice noodles were perfect with a lot of depth with green onions and sliced rare beef, I do prefer the chicken. The spring rolls were crunchy fresh with medium shrimp and peanut sauce. A pot of green tea for 50c, tempted to stay all afternoon. Try it. Once they get to know you the tea charge should disappear. UPDATE: THIS is my solid go-to place for PHO. If you want Korean go to Koreana. *Note: I have only been to To Pho once over by Motorola and have to say (sexist alert, but true that) I much prefer the smiling helpful largely female waitresses at HOP over the sullen boys at To Pho who pretty obviously weren't enjoying their careers today, at least serving us. I'll review when I've eaten there a few more times. I DID like the breakfast joint that was in there before, and would be Glad to see it BACK if the service is like that all the time. So far, stick with House Of Pho. Plus LEO, "not a sullen To Pho boy", is always smiling.

Dear Asian Noodle House, BEWARE!! There is a new kid on the block for Pho and it has kicked your butt and is here to stay! I put up with your horrible service because your Pho Ga was pretty good and you were the only restaurant in town that made it. House of Pho hands down has 200% better service than you do. They do not rush me while eating. They don't hover at your table to clear it right away which basically makes me feel unwanted and unimportant. Not only does House of Pho win with service, but their Pho is more tasty, more autentic. Well Pho Ga anyway. Their Hot tea tastes better too. Sincerely, Ex-devoted Asian Noodle House Pho lover Seriously, this place is cleaner, has a better ambiance, has a KIDS menu!! You can't go wrong here. I will be back. House of Pho, please keep up the great job you're doing!!
(5)Ann C.
Pho was awesome. Bahn Mi was amazing. Spring Rolls and peanut sauce were delicious. Everything was great. My kids ate the heck out of their kid size Chicken Pho. It tasted like chicken noodle soup that my grandma would make when I was a kid, sans the annoying veggies. The broth in the Pho is better than any I have tasted before. And... most importantly, the bathrooms are really clean!
(5)Mina H.
It's not bad but not fantastic either. Maybe I shouldn't get expectations up too high OR stick with Thai places for Thai food. Their bubble tea is not bad... Seems like recurring theme. Mediocrity. Poopers.
(3)Phil S.
They changed their bowls awhile back to what appears to be a smaller bowl. I can't be certain that portions are actually smaller but perceived portion amount seems smaller to me. Because HoP uses lower quality meat and the broth is not as flavorful as other places, the big draw for me was the gargantuan portions of the bowl of pho. I still like this place but I'm disappointed in the perceived portion changes.
(3)Jerry N.
I came here after reading numerous Yelp reviews. I changed jobs and have been looking for a place to get a good bowl of Asian soup. The House of Pho does not disappoint! The Pho is awesome...good broth and plenty of meat and noodles. They also give the standard sides to add....and if you need extra broth mid stream. Go ahead and ask! The sandwiches are top notch. The service is perfect too. Not sure why people are dissing the service. I have been here at least 6 times in the last month and have never been let down. The price is right...the Pho is perfect.. Get in here and give it a try!
(5)Yang Y.
This is one of the best Vietnam restaurant I 've ever been! The food here will blow ur mind! So authentic and spectacular! U can not find a better noodle soup! The price is low BUT the environment of this restaurant is nice and clean! Highly recommend!

I am SUPER ecstatic that this place opened. We were told of his place by a friend and have been coming here quite often. It has a nice big layout which could seat up to 100 comfortably. They have a bar area but no liquor yet (not sure what happened but they crossed it off their menu and they will NOT be serving alcohol). They have a semi secluded cabana looking area for a group and their layout is nicely sectioned off if someone wanted to have a 'party' here. Had their Pho at dinner time and it was HUGE. Well worth the money. They gave you great fresh veggies and you get a lot of different types of meat in your bowl. I couldn't get enough of how awesome their broth is. I literally drank that bowl of Pho. Also had their rice dish which is truly authentic. It came with this egg looking item (I'm unsure of the true term for it), Chinese sausage (most places skimp on that and give you a plain polish sausage or similar), fresh veggies (most places will just forget this aspect overall), and good portions of the pork chops (I had leftovers!). There are not that many places that can truly serve you authentic Vietnamese dishes (or so you think). This place, I will vouch 150% for. It beats TANK NOODLE. Yes, I said it....please don't kill me, but you just have to try the food here. No more travelling into the city for good Vietnamese food anymore. The Vietnamese coffee could use some more T.L.C. and the Thai iced tea is mediocre. (this doesn't sound like an amazing place huh?) did you read the part about the meals? that will blow your mind. In case you didn't know, they also serve bubble tea! Yes O Yes, they offer Avocado, Mango, Watermelon, Strawberry, Taro, etc. The bubbles themselves could be better, but it was a LOT better than what Jockey Wok N Roll served us.

I was excited to find a Vietnamese place in Schaumburg near my in-laws. As a Vietnamese, I was disappointed and would not come back. My wife and I walked in on a Thursday evening. We were asked how many people were in our party and told them 2. The host/server guided us to a table, threw the menus down and left. That was it. No welcome or thanks for joining us this evening. The place is dark. The lighting is poor. Not a welcoming ambiance. When ordering, I threw in some Vietnamese language and none of the servers understood. The background music being played was also not Vietnamese, but Chinese. This was a sign to not expect much. For appetizers, I ordered #32 (cha gio). They were skimpy and small. Very little filling. They could have been mistaken for Mexican Taquitos. I don't expect them to be big eggrolls like Panda Express, but somewhere in between like real homemade Vietnamese egg rolls. My wife ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. It was just 2 big slices of tofu, wrapped with lettuce, vermicelli, and bean sprouts. It was loosely wrapped and looked amateurish. For entree, I ordered the Com Dac Biet 5 Mon (Special Rice with 5 Items). This dish is one of the dishes I feel you judge a Vietnamese restaurant by. It's the special! The pork chop was thin, dry and came out looking like it was cooked earlier and re-heated for my consumption. They also forgot the pork meatloaf that was supposed to come with it. My wife ordered the Pho Ga, she doesn't eat beef or pork. The broth was weak, noodles cooked well and big chunks of chicken, but not bite size. For the pho ga, they brought out the bean sprouts, peppers, lime, and basil. On Argyle, they at least give you two types of mint. I expected cheaper and comparable to the city but was thoroughly disappointed. I'm no great chef, but if I can make it better at home, then I consider a restaurant not worth it. It has to be at least equal to what I can make for the time and money to factor in. After we paid the bill, we got up and left. Walked past 4 employees, 1 of which behind the counter leading to the kitchen. There was no thank you for joining us or we hope you enjoyed the food. The experience ended like it started, disappointing.
(2)Derrick A.
Pho is very good with generous amount of meat. I typically finish the meat with a ton of noodles left but the noodles ran out first! The banh mi was tasty, with generous meats again and the perfect crusty bread. No need to go to the city anymore for notable Vietnamese!
(5)Rania A.
The only decent Vietnamese place in the northwest suburbs that serves cheap but great food. When I'm in town I would always try to visit this place! I recommend this place for my first timers out there that haven't tried Vietnamese food before. I love their pho, the broth nicely blends with the noodles and the veggies! Everything taste and look delicious. Try their calamari too! that's my bf and I's favorite appetizer. Also, a plus , the place is clean and new
(4)Andrew A.
Everything was good except the restaurant itself. I wish they could renovate it a little bit, because everything seemed a little dirty. Besides that, everything is good. I had the seafood pho and it tasted great. I like Viet House a little better, but I come to this area more often so it's nice to have a good restaurant.
(4)Dominic H.
The good: price to size of plate is amazing, veggies were fresh and crab ragoon to die for The bad:no alcohol and I ordered pho with steak and brisket there was barley any meat (equivalent to a single stack at McDonald's) Will go back
(4)P R.
Does this place have new management? I haven't been here for a while because a closer Vietnamese place opened up. But I had a taste today for their grilled pork Bun which the other place doesn't offer so I drove the extra distance. When we got home we were shocked to see so little meat in the dish - about a third of the amount it used to have and all the pieces were very small. The egg roll was cold, stale, and had almost no filling. And the chopped peanuts were either missing or have been eliminated. Sticking to Viet House from now on.

After having frequently ordered from House of Pho. Again. And Again. And again. Here's the only 3 things I'll ever order. Spring rolls. Standard. Comes with some mystery tofu-pork, or shrimp. It's pretty cheap, at 3.75 I believe... but it's a nickel-and-dimed portion. Not enough shrimp. a whoooole ton of rice noodle. ask for extra shrimp if you're smart. and maybe opt out of the mystery meat. Pho. yum. yum. yum. i only get the steak kind. i think it's #1. Actually wait. I've gotten the seafood version, too. Also good. but duh. They better make good pho. When delivered or takeout, prepare for all your sides to come separately!. They'll pack the meat, the noodles, bean sprouts, and basil all in differently containers. Takes more work, but preserves the flavor. This is definitely not a meal that must be eaten immediately, if possible. (The beef cooks within the soup.) Banh Mi. Surprise! this was actually pretty fresh and flavorful. Nice refreshing taste. It's a smaller sandwhich with toasted (hardy) bread, so it fares well as a snack, or someone with a smaller appetite. For $4, though, you can't really beat it. Jimmy john's and subway sandwiches are definitely more. OH! and pot stickers are pretty good. Big, fat, and doughy. probably not the healthiest, but these WILL fill. Here's my tip, though. They get cranky when you order near closing time, and are likely to miss small things here and there. We've been jipped on peanut sauce a few times. the smoothies tend to be icey. not exactly the best smoothies out there. I like this spot. Good taste, but limited menu. stay away from the pad thai, salt and pepper pork chop... and idk. i'd stick with the vietnamese fare here.
(3)Nate L.
My wife and I just returned from vacation and had a taste for Pho, so we looked on yelp and and the reviews brought us here. We started with a 3 piece Crab Rangoon and Spring rolls and they were delicious. For the main course, we ordered the Chicken Pho and Singapore noodles. My wife doesn't like spicy food, so they prepared the Singapore noodles mild and it still had plenty of curry on it, but NO peppers. The wife wasn't a real curry fan, but this dish converted her! The Chicken Pho was outstanding, the broth was hearty and tasty. The personnel were very attentive and helpful. This was our first and certainly NOT our last visit here!
(5)Betsy M.
Just used the Yelp app to order from this restaurant, was pretty stoked given the reviews. I am giving it one star based purely on the fact they did not deliver what I ordered. When I called to ask why the Singapore noodles had NO flavor, literally nothing - no curry at all, the guy tells me because I ordered that way. I did not. Using the new Eat24 App - It clearly had five levels of spicy, I chose Mild. The guys tells me that Mild means Not Spicy (hello, no it doesn't when you have a selection that says "Not Spicy"). Same thing happened on my Kung Pao Shrimp. Throwing down 35 bucks and not getting what you ordered, not to mention with literally no flavor stinks. Particularly when they are wrong but not willing to own it. I will say the crab rangoons I ordered were as good as everyone seems to rave about, but not enough for me to give this place anything but one star. Threw the two entree dishes away. House of Pho - learn that "Mild" does not equal dry/no flavor... you all have an option that states "not spicy".

If you have spent any time in Houston or on the West Coast there is a good probability that you know what really good Vietnamese food tastes like. This spot is just meh. It's ok, not great not horrible when when it comes to choices in the Chicagoland area for Vietnamese food we don't have much. Order the Vietnamese Ice Coffee. Im old school I prefer to get in it the press where you let it steep to your desired level of strength. Here you just get a premixed glass with iced coffee in it. Ugh. The bun was severely over boiled and the marinated bbq pork didn't taste very marinated at all. The one thing we did enjoy was the goi cuon. (summer rolls) The rice paper was nice the vermicelli was much better than in the bun and it had some nice pieces of pork and shrimp. Their peanut/hoisin sauce was ok, but it always made better when mixed with sriracha. All in all we would go back but only for the goi cuon. Now sure I would be interested in anything else though.
(2)Jaimee L.
Got the pho with round steak and brisket...so good! Finished off with an avocado smoothie with tapioca. Customer service is great too! Will be going back for sure. Can't beat the prices
(5)Linda L.
Awful. Name should be changed. Definitely not Vietnamese in any way. How do I know? I grew up with this stuff. Eggrolls were a tiny piece of burnt chewy meat and nothing but shell -- deep fried & oily. I wasn't even sure of what it was --- had to call the waiter over to verify my "oily burnt round chip" was the eggrolls i ordered... Next --- the "spring rolls" packed packed packed with rice noodles 1.5 piece of shrimp & a slice of "banh mi" meat & a piece of lettuce. Pho was medicore at best -- my husband and I had the luxury to share One fraction of a basil stem & some bean sprouts -- yep thats it... These people absolutely have no idea how to make Vietnamese food. FYI eggrolls actually should have food inside of it & spring rolls should Not have "banh mi" meat in it. Don't need to believe me. Let the pictures speak for themselves. There's a better Pho place 15 mins from here. Do your taste buds a favor --- go there.
(1)Joann V.
I've been here twice now, both times I had pho and it was awesome. First time I had the #4 and second time we came and got the lunch special, definitely worth it.
(4)Ch E.
This place definitely has good pho, but not the best compared to others. Awesome friendly staff, good portion sizes, and great atmosphere. Exceptionally good, but not the best I've ever had. Never tried any of their Chinese dishes, only Vietnamese.
(4)Jessica B.
Service is terrible! Food was delivered 2 and a half hours after I ordered!!! I called 3 separate times inquiring where my food was. I was told each time that it was on the way and should be there shortly. Restaurant is less than 2 miles away! Unacceptable. Food was cold when I finally got it and didn't get any apologies for the service.

This place has been on my go-to Pho places of the suburbs for the past two years. I go here so much but I haven't written an official review till now, apologies. Admittedly, they have been a bit up and down with the consistency of pho soup as of late, but I just had an order to-go today and their broth was excellent!! It's probably the best I had from them. Since the broth is the heart of this traditional Vietnamese soup, it is very hard to perfect and only a handful of restaurants make it right. For the most part this place have decent food and for decent price too. Pho is what they are best known for, their other dishes on the menu is average though I haven't tried them all. They also offer some Chinese and Thai dishes here as well and those are decent. Don't expect as much authenticity because their specialty is Vietnamese food. Although the owners and staff are not Vietnamese but whoever their chef is, that person makes a very close to authentic bowl of Pho. Their Chinese and Thai dishes are good, but you'd have to not be picky or set high expectations. In my experiences, their Pad Thai will run very sweet with a lot of orange food coloring and have more noodles than protein. Their Chinese dishes can be saucy and will vary off from the dishes you are used to. Just know that and come here with an open mind if you are to try other dishes besides the Viet entrees. Still, I've been coming back here every month for the past two years for a reason. Excellent lunch menu prices (recently changed to be under $8, they used to be under $6). They always have great, friendly service that is always quick (a lot of times our food comes out in 5 minutes). Four star review goes to them because they've been able to keep this up despite an increase in foot traffic. I remember coming here when this place had only about 40 reviews. Just this weekend (1/18) they revamped their menu with a different look and offers more information and variety. Check them out if you are in the Hoffman area!
(4)Lin C.
It's always encouraging to step into an ethnic restaurant and seeing that the patrons are mostly of ethnic background and have a wide variety of food on their tables. The smell of the restaurant when stepping in is aromatic and welcoming. Just note that you will still smell like it when you leave the place for hours to come. The food was inexpensive, large portion, and delicious. The staff was friendly, thought didn't really speak much English. Definitely a great spot in suburbia.
(4)M K.
A bowl of pho at the house of Pho isn't that good, too sweet and noodle over cooked. Don't order egg rolls, they are the worst I've ever had, hard to chew, not cooked-to-order, tiny and just a shell without any filling, huge waste of money. Staff is friendly, but that would not be the reason to go eat here.
(2)Ryan M.
Very disappointed. I was told that my food would be ready in 15 minutes. I came on time and now have been sitting here for 20 minutes.
(3)Bella W.
Since my last review, I've been back for another 3-4 times. It's close so it makes my life easier. The pad Thai is still not working tho, my sis loves this dish, but she didn't eat it. The Vietnamese noodle in soup was good, but the beef was still way too hard. The girl waitress was nice, but she kind of messed up our order. We wanted tripe with our noodle, but each order only had 3 tiny pieces and they charged us an extra $2 per order. We talked to the staff and the guy was very nice and took the extra charge off completely. He was friendly. It's not that the food taste bad, but it seriously can improve on cutting the beef thinner so it's not so hard to chew. I know they can do better because they did it before, unless it's a different chef.
(3)Nap D.
How exactly do 3 servers keep up with a packed restaurant (~75 ppl) on a Friday night? They don't...that's the right answer. As I sit here waiting to pickup my take-out, it's becoming more and more obvious that the staff is stressed, food quality is suffering and the patrons are unhappy with the rushed service. Maybe this is a good place on a slow night, but I don't plan on finding out again.
(1)Joseph M.
All the bahn mi are awesome! The Chicken Pho is tasty as well. Great cure for that sick day. I also love their honey lemon tea. Friendly service. Have not had a bad server yet, and I'm pretty sure I won't. The place is clean, very roomy, and is also perfect for big groups. My only criticism is the climate here. Get's cold in the winter. They gotta crank it up a notch!
(5)James L.
I only go here for the Pho. I occassionally will get the appetizers such as the fried chicken (7/10) or the spring rolls (6/10), but the pho is very good. The pho here used to be extremely oily and leave you feeling like you just slurped up a ton of cooking oil. But they must have changed their recipe or ingredient portions recently because the pho is spectacular now. The broth is very tasty (can add Hoisin and Sriracha sauce to taste of course) and they will give you an abundance of side vegetables (sprouts, cilantro, peppers). In the area, Viet House actually recently opened up, however, I still prefer House of Pho's pho. Here is my quick ranking from the area: 1) House of Pho 2) Pho Ha 3) Viet House 4) Asian noodle House
(4)Stephanie M.
House of Pho satisfied my craving for warm brothy noodles without having to drive to Argyle. I've been spoiled by a variety Vietnamese restaurants on the West Coast so it wasn't the best but I'd come back for a quick fix. I ended up ordering bun with chicken and egg rolls but I feel like they skimped on the meat and only 1 egg roll. They also have a fairly large Chinese menu to choose from.
(4)Ozzie T.
Discovered this gem a few years ago. The Pho is great, price point is great. The service is pretty good. I recommend this place for any lover Pho or Vietnamese food. In comparison to most similar restaurants this spot always has a medium sized crowd & no wait. Service is fast & food is consistently good. Enjoy
(4)Lois C.
The pho here was delicious, and that's coming from someone who lived in San Jose, CA where pho is on every corner. This brought me back to my childhood days, delicious, hot, and made perfectly. Along with the pho, we had the spring rolls which was delicious but even better were their egg rolls (we were so sad when we ate them all up). I will be coming here quite frequently to get my pho fix, which needs to be fulfilled quite often.
(4)Justina L.
Came here with friends twice. This is a good place to eat yummy authentic pho in the 'burbs. It's so hard to find a good pho place that rivals restaurants in Argyle, but House of Pho does it! They have a pretty good special too. Good price for a lot of food :) Service was also pretty good even though it was a busy Friday night.
(4)Brit W.
FINALLY! Some pho near me! Last time I had good pho was in L.A., and the closest thing I could find to pho in Illinois was in the city. So glad I found House of Pho on a whim (drove 30 minutes out of the way just to try it!!). I want to try their other items... but I have a feeling I'm going to keep ordering the super fresh pho every time. The decor is hip, spacious, and clean. I also really liked the music. Can't wait to go back!! Pho-king delicious!

Restaurant Review Wow Argyle in the suburbs! I can't believe that such an amazing restaurant has opened up in the suburbs near Woodfield. I have often traveled on the red line down to Argyle for a good bowl of pho, but now I can just drive on by to this local restaurant. The restaurant was as advertised on Yelp. The restaurant is brand new with ample seating. Wait staff is refreshingly friendly and helpful. The lunch specials are to die for. We ended up have the pho from the lunch combo menu. This includes generous portion of noodles, rare thinly sliced beef, tendons, and brisket all swimming in a delicious beef broth that does not appear to have any MSG. The plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime, and hot peppers compliments this dish well. I would have to say that this was equal if not better than Tank Pho. Your meal also comes with a veggie eggroll which came out piping hot from the frier and for those that don't order pho you can get a bowl of egg drop vs. tom yum soup. Other entrees ordered were the pad thai (delicious per the others in the party, great serving size again) and pork chop with rice which went well with the dipping sauce from the egg roll. To sum it up, contemporary, good prices, ample portion, and friendly wait staff. How can it get any better? Keep up the good work House of Pho, I am going to be a repeat customer Pro- bargain lunch combo 5.95 includes entree (pho, pork chop rice, and pad thai just to name a few) with soup (tom yum/egg drop/or no soup if you go with pho) and the best veggie eggroll I have ever had. Great portions. Friendly service. Con- parking lot is small difficult to get into and out of Hidden deal- Lunch deal for 5.95 with everything as per above and 7.95 at dinner. Wanted to try pho, so my friend and I went on Saturday night. From the Yelp pictures, it looked really swanky so we made reservations, which we definitely didn't need. It's located down the street from where the old Hoffman Estates PD was in a little strip mall, but it's beautifully decorated inside! I had no idea what to order, so I just stuck with combination pho and we got spring rolls to share. Spring rolls were PHENOMENAL! They were so fresh tasting, and had so many flavors and textures. The peanut sauce that came with was really amazing! The combination pho was just pho with beef, beef tendons, and beef stomach. I was nervous about the beef stomach, but it was actually pretty good. Really chewy, different texture, but good! All in all, an excellent experience. Service was very fast and the atmosphere was fantastic. Will definitely return.

Let me start my post by saying "I love Pho" the more traditional the better. Give me a bowl of rare beef, tripe and tendons in a bowl of that delicious broth and I am complete. I was excited when this place opened near my work and checked it out as soon as I could. Since then I have been back twice. The Pho is excellent! One Warning The jalapeno's are HOT, in a good way. I have a high tolerance for spicy food too.

I was in the mood for some hot, delicious Pho, but didn't want to drive all the way to Argyle in the city. I remember reading about this place from my twitter feed (got to love social media). This place is right next to Uni-Mart which is a Filipino-American grocery store which I frequent. It used to be another Asian restaurant, but that was a long time ago. The place has a nice, clean, look and feel. The staff is friendly and the service was fast. I ordered Pho Tai, which is the eye round steak, and the wifey ordered...I have no idea how to pronounce it. I believe it was number 23 on the menu. It has steamed rice and marinated pork chop, fried egg, sausage, and pork meatloaf. I had insane food envy, but my Pho was redonk a donk so its all good. Oh, we also ordered the pot stickers, which was very good to my surprise. Finally a nice spot in the burbs for some Pho. I don't have to hop on 90 and head down to the city anymore for some amazing, affordable, awesome, Asian food!!!

House of Pho is one of those "hidden gems" like iChef in Hoffman Estates and Noodles Pho U in Lombard with great prices and excellent food but a terrible location. The interior is nice and cozy and the service is good and friendly. The only thing I haven't been too impressed with is their drinks like the Hong Kong Milk Tea which lacks sophistication and flavor or Thai Iced Coffee which could be more aromatic. This is probably the only negative thing I can say about the food. The food for the most part is seasoned lightly, fresh, and avoids the use of heavy gravy and oil. The vermicelli noodle salad (#13) came with well seasoned meats and pork and was complimented with nice bouncy noodles on the bottom. Surprisingly, the mint added a nice touch to the dish especially when mixed with the fish sauce. The porkchop in #20 is nice and flavorful with a good texture. The pho dishes were all very good with a good strong flavor but not overbearing. Pretty similar to the flavor of Hing Kee before they changed ownership. I like #5 the best although #8 is good if you like variety. The chicken wings #39 have a nice crispy and slightly fluffy batter to them like some of the Japanese or Korean wings in the better restaurants. However, the nice thing about it is that they weren't heavily salted nor did they contain pepper so you can snack on these without worrying about raising your blood pressure too much. Their pan fried rice flour cake #36 is one of the best I've had around Chicago. The nice thing they did was make the pancake thinner so that it would be very crispy inside and outside, then they avoided steaming the vegetables inside so that it wouldn't ruin the texture, very well done. The seafood and chicken noodle soups are okay but I prefer the beef ones more. Their Chinese food is competently done although nothing special. The egg roll was crispy and filled with the usual vegetables and meat you get from nicer restaurants. The egg drop soup had an average flavor. The shrimp fried rice was pretty similar to one of the better Chinatown restaurants and enjoyable. The crispy Szechuan beef is pretty interesting since it is crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside (I think it's flank steak) but the sauce tastes like a spicy version of the peking porkchop sauce. It's unique and something that could be potentially be very nice if it were less sour I think. Overall, great prices and solid cooking. I'm sure I'll be back again very soon.

They cook the hell out of a pork chop! The only pork chop I've ever liked from anywhere. Plus the lettuce + spicy green pepper slaw underneath pairs perfectly. The owners are so nice & friendly here. I called to do a take out order, the lady was super friendly - a rarity if you eat out a lot like I do. Polite, friendly, warm, accommodating, good sense of humor. I asked for her to substitute rice with vegetables (paleo) - if that was possible - she didn't even flinch - asked me if i'd like steamed vegetables. No attitude or hesitation. Some restaurants give too much sass when you try to modify the meal. Of all the restaurants in the area, the kings of service/friendliness in my humble opinion are: 1) sushi ya 2a) brazil express 2b) house of pho 4) portillos / boston market Anyways, pork chops here are the best. Had the kung pao ckn (was just ok - not their fault - never had kung pao that i really liked). Pho is good. The best part was when I came to pick up the food - the restaurant was near closing time yet packed & poppin! Good for them!
(5)Annie L.
I don't have to go all the way to Tank in the city to get a good bowl of pho! The broth is flavorful, fresh bean sprouts and greens are given, noodles are cooked just right. I haven't tried anything else besides the pho yet, but I noticed they have bahn mi sandwiches now. I'll have to try those out.
(5)PJ J.
It's aight here, but dare I insert the old "not better than Uptown" comment here? I have to, come on dude...I aint from Saigon, but mayo on a banh mi and no pate? I call that a fail. The pho is pho-kay...I'd go back, it's just that fighting city traffic to get the flame pho on Argyle has never been a problem for me. I happen to be a condiment freak.... No culantro, no fish sauce on the table? ...and the "rare beef" is cooked to jerky by the time the bowl hits the table? ...grrr. Service is good, so if you're stuck out here, eat here. Or, head further west and see if Daruma has ramen on.

I suppose pho is one of those things that everybody has their favorite. House of Pho is nicely decorated, has reasonable prices and friendly staff, however we weren't impressed with the pho we had. I've had plenty of pho around the country and this is the only place where I had to discard half the meat as it was pure fat (for eye of the round, really??). In addition if you order pho ga (chicken pho) you get beef broth with chicken meat, it should be a chicken soup. We were both in agreement that there was too much sweetness in the broth. Perhaps it varies by region but the perfect herb plate to me should have cilantro too.

I've really enjoyed House of Pho each time that I have visited. The interior seems more modern with the track lighting mixed in with paintings and bamboo decor. The employees are very helpful and polite. The have lunch specials too, I believe until 2:30. Obviously by the name, the big draw here is their pho. The servings are huge and you have your choice of beef, chicken, pork, seafood and maybe even more, I forget. The pho is delicious. I've also tried my first Banh Mi, the specialty french, vietnamese sandwich with your choice of meat served with pickled slaw and jalapenos. This is also delicious. I would definitely keep this as a regular restaurant to visit.

My extended family has been eating here a lot since it opened, but I had not made it a point to join them thus far. I am not a huge fan of Pho, while it can be tasty I am usually not in the mood for soup as a meal. So when my family finally wanted to go there while I happened to be with them, I wasn't overjoyed but was happy to give it a shot. Luckily they do have a number of other dishes to choose from. There is a small selection of dishes from various Asian traditions, though none of my usual favorites happened to be on the list. I decided on a Mongolian Beef lunch special, which included a choice of steamed or fried rice, egg drop soup, and an egg roll. The bowl of soup was delicious, the egg roll also good. The portion size for the entree was quite large for a $6 special, though comparable in size to other such specials. What was not comparable to other restaurants was the quality and taste! This was, by far, one of the most perfect Asian dishes I've ever eaten, and I'm not usually a fan of Mongolian Beef. The meat was so incredibly tender and flavorful, and both kinds of onions were exploding with flavor (literally, I have never had a juicy onion like these). I normally save large portions like this for a second meal but I simply couldn't stop eating, it was so perfect and I did not want to let it go to waste being microwaved another day. I'm excited to have a great new affordable restaurant to frequent. If I have one complaint it's that this dish is SO good I may never be able to bring myself to try anything else.
(5)DB A.
I'm giving them a qualified FIVE. One of my favorite places to go in the area, my fave lunch spot, my Pho fix sublime ... I really like this place, and if it isn't quite quite quite up to what you can find on Argyle, well, (for you suburbaneers) you don't have to drive all the way down into the city. And that's worth a point. This is where I learned that Pho might well be the heroin of soup. And that Bahn Mi are what God intended when he invented the sandwich. Stop by for a full and filling and cheap lunch (great prices at dinner as well). Service has always been friendly too. Take many people with you when you go and spend lots of money. I need them to succeed because I plan on going there a lot and I don't want to risk losing this treasure.
(5)Danielle S.
I thought House of Pho was very good. They have a pretty big menu all at very decent (actually cheap) prices. you get a HUGE portion of Pho for like $8. They also have really good fresh fruit smoothies with tapioca. I got the coconut and it was delish! Everything on the menu is numbered so you don't need to worry about pronouncing anything. They also give clear descriptions of what is in everything. It is a pretty open and clean atmosphere with very good service. I would definitely recommend them!
(5)Ryan K.
We had the spring rolls and two soups. The rolls were just okay. I personally thought the soup was good, but my wife didn't particularly enjoy it. The restaurant is clean and inviting, so I wouldn't mind going back, but I also don't think I'd recommend going to others.

It is not a coincidence that few, if any Vietnamese people actually come to this restaurant for "Vietnamese cuisine." My gf was craving pho after shopping one day and pushed for trying out this place. Eventually, I relented to her wishes despite knowing better. I should have known something was up when I noticed "seafood" pho as a menu item, but we ended up ordering a Pho and a Bun Bo Hue anyway. I'll keep it short and sweet, NOT authentic. Okay, not that short. For pho, the broth is the most important and costliest part of the dish. Unfortunately, the pho lacked a "real" hearty sweetness to it. The flavors of the pho broth tasted artificial which raised a red flag that they perhaps may have taken cost cutting measures in their preparation of it. Bun Bo Hue...lol wow. I have had many variations of this dish as the process of making it can be quite diverse and less standardized than that of pho. Awful. Seemed like they just decided to throw a bunch of things together. Bigger portions than most Vietnamese restaurants, but at what cost? If you don't mind faux pho then the house of poo is for you. Honestly, you can only enjoy yourself here if you're ig'nant to Viet cuisine.

Absolutely love this place. My fiance and I come pretty often. The service is great the waiters/waitresses are always very polite and bring your food out in a timely manner. The food portions are large and the pho broth is delicious. I love the atmosphere especially since my fiance loves to watch sports- they have plenty of tvs to go around. I love their coconut bubble tea- however the most recent visit we had the boba was hard and cold....typically its soft and chewy.
(5)Joyface K.
Being of Laotian and Vietnamese decent, I grew up with Mom making Pho fairly often. I'm glad to see there are more Pho resturants popping up here in the burbs....and GOOD ones...like this place in particular. I've had the Pho combination ( I think it's the one with everything in it but shrimp) I add shrimp for a little extra. However you get a big @ss bowl......you get your moneys worth of deliciousness. And for you partiers..... I found eating Pho to make me feel better. Yay for good hangover food! I've also had their Banh Mi which was also yummy. And if you are unsure about having a coffee after your meal, Vietnamese coffee is only great if you like it strong. This is my favorite place for my favorite comfort food. I have only one complaint, I've been there a few times and once was sat in this area where it was a little private because you had bamboo blinds around you; I found the server to ki nda forget about us.....however, everyone is human....things happen. Now go there, get your pho on! Phok Yeah!
(4)Yaeko M.
Their pho taste was awesome! It's cheap for the volume. The place is clean & spacious. The service was friendly. The sprig roll was very fresh. I love this place!

Tucked away in a little strip mall, House of Pho is one of the few Vietnamese places in the area - let alone in the greater metro area. I have been there a few times - the interior is clean and tastefully done - particularly in the front of the establishment. The rear, while fine, is a little vast and warehouse like, or it least it feels that way. The prices are fantastic, the portions of good size...I particularly like their spring roles and salt and pepper pork chop. Another excellent dish is their Banh Mi sandwiches. I've only had the pork one myself, but it was very good. There is also a sampler plate that comes with an array of items - it is the most expensive thing on the menu (all of 9 bucks I think) and is quite good. My experience with Vietnamese food is fairly limited - I have been to maybe 4 places - but I have always enjoyed it and the places I have gone seem pretty hard core (very large Asian clientele, bi-lingual menus etc)...House of Pho hits the mark in my book....I especially like their Vietnamese coffee, with the weird little metal filters and the sweetened condensed milk!

First time with friends. Everyone enjoyed. Great service. Would eat again!

Good Pho in a great, clean environment. No need to schlep to Argyle anymore! I personally had a non-pho Vietnamese soup (#11). While it could have used a bit more heat (marked spicy on the menu for what was essentially a non-spicy dish), the spaghetti-like noodle and beef broth concoction was pretty delicious. It tasted a bit beefy though. My wife's dish, Pho #8, was even more delicious as the flavor slowly turn from Cinnamon to star anise. If you need to add a bit of a kick, make sure to squeeze in a dollop (or five) of Siracha! Beside these soups were sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and lime slices. While any pho-aholic is used this arrangement, its rare to see all these add-ins so FRESH! We are talking really really fresh - like out of that supermarket commercial with the 'broccoli shaking the dew out of its hair' fresh! Very good first go, and definitely looking forward to going again soon to try their other Asian dishes!

Took another group to House of Pho last night. In the year since its opening and my first reveiw, they have lost nothing in their execution. The place was packed, but the service was prompt and courteous. The Cold Noodle Salad, Beef Pho, Pork Chops with Rice, Shrimp Spring Rolls, Salt and Pepper Shrimp and their newest dish, the Papaya Salad (with shrimp or grilled pork), were all outstanding. And the place was BYOB. You cannot beat House of Pho.

I used to love this place very much. I went to this place every Week until an incident happened. Last Friday evening I went to there for dinner. As usual, I ordered number five which is a pho with tendon and some beef. The pho came up on the table, I ate about 1/2 then suddenly found a fly in my Pho soup bowl. All of the sudden, I lost my appetite to it even the waitress said that she could replace one free for me. Also I felt so disgusting that I asked them to give me A cup of tea. Terrible experience! I'm afraid to go to there again!

i really liked this place! very generous portions, great noodles, excellent broth. also, it's BYOB

Pho is the perfect remedy for a rainy Monday, so two of my coworkers and I popped in to House of Pho. I think what I was most excited about is the fact that they have a Pho lunch special for 5.95 which includes soup (yes, a pre-pho soup) and an egg roll. If you ask really nicely, they'll give you 2 egg rolls instead of the additional soup. I am what you'd call a goi cuon-noisseur, being hapa Vietnamese and all, so I had to take them up on an order. Well...the goi cuon came, and it looked well wrapped, with the signature shrimp halves pressed up against the rice paper wrapping. I loaded my hoisin dipping sauce up with some rooster sauce (a big minus was that they didn't have the garlic hot sauce with the pepper flakes in it...traditional style hot sauce) and dug in. These are not authentic spring rolls, not in the least bit, and let me explain why. What makes Vietnamese food so distinctive is the interplay and balance of flavors that come from their utilization of herbs, spices and sauces. See, a balance of the sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter is quintessential Vietnamese cooking at its best. These spring rolls had rice noodles, romaine lettuce, thin pork slices, and shrimp. There was nary an herb to be found. Bland at best, not even the spicy hoisin could redeem this dish. Meh, considering I have 20+ years experience making/consuming goi cuon, I just shrugged it off as an Americanized version and made a mental note to make these at home for myself (PS if you make them at home, I HIGHLY suggest adding thin slices of granny smith apples to your rolls. I promise you won't be disappointed by the resulting flavors.) Their beef pho is standard beef pho. Again, I would have liked to see more herbs and additions for the soup other than just bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and lime slices. Normally I love loading up on herbs, hoisin, and traditional hot sauce. I would also write this off as Americanized pho. I completely understand, for the location of this restaurant, why the dishes that I tasted lacked character...they don't have to in order for people who are less familiar with traditional Vietnamese cooking to enjoy the dishes. While my steaming bowl of pho satisfied my need for some rainy day comfort food, I think I'll pass on House of Pho next time the craving hits in favor of a more authentic eatery.

Saw great reviews and finally got to try it! Honestly, when it comes to Pho, I don't know if you can get much better than this! We at Pho, came on a weekday and had a great time. - Very nice interior decor! You don't feel like you're sitting in a dingy, ghetto restaurant. - Authentic food: You can tell they are making the real deal. - Portions are BIG: I'd say noodle-wise, you're getting the same amount as any other restaurant that offers pho, but the size of the bowl and hence the broth that comes in it is ginormous!! - Prices are reasonable! For the decor and the portions, you're not getting ripped off! - Food taste is good. - Service was very nice :) My only negative is that I can't say much about the seafood. My friend got the seafood pho, and it tasted not-fresh but frozen, and had a very seafood-y-flavor if you know what I mean. If you're gonna go for the pho, go for the meat instead. Can't give it 5 stars yet bc it's not tried and true on my book YET, but we shall see!!

For my wife and I, The House of Pho is our go to place after moving to the area about a year ago. We either dine in or do carry out several times a month. The shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce is tasty and the Pho is reasonably priced where you are always left full and satisfied. The pork chops are really good and I especially like the salt and pepper shrimp. The shrimp are big and seasoned just right. As far as the atmosphere, the staff is so friendly and make sure you are being taken care of. I've been to Pho restaurants in the city and the ones there are chaotic, extremely busy, a stressful atmosphere, and seem like they rush you to get you to eat faster so they can seat more guests. At the House of Pho, they bring out the food quickly, but they don't rush you and you can have a relaxing and calm dinner which is very nice. Also, if you just want to pick up pho to go, you can call it in and they'll have it ready in about 10 minutes. Prices are very inexpensive and you do get a lot for what you pay for. Highly recommend!!

This is a difficult one for me to review. I've purposely avoided reviewing House of Pho until they offered banh mi sandwiches. Well, that time is here. The pho is, overall, of pretty good quality and reasonably priced. The vegetables served are fresh and crispy without any sign of wilt or dryness. They're good enough to munch on alone. I've purposely not ordered pho the last few times I've eaten here because the portions are fairly large and quite filling. Their banh mi, on the other hand, are kind of sad. I had both the house special and grilled pork, and it was difficult to distinguish between the two. The bread, itself, was good, and the sweetness of the mayonnaise came through well enough for someone, such as myself, who likes mayonnaise, but I just felt as if there was something lacking in the flavor department. I feel that their prices for these two partcular banh mi are a little steep. I have yet to try their chicken or, I believe, combination, so I cannot comment on those. Hopefully, they're better. HOWEVER Their pineapple smoothie is absolutely amazing. AMAZING. I've never been to Brazil, but I can only imagine that the smoothie I had is an accurate representation of the decadently-sweet smoothies and street drinks to be found there. What's most important is that there were actual fibers from a pineapple that had been pureed and put into my drink. Also, I'm not certain how much sugar was in there, but I don't think it's a stretch to claim that an entire plantation's worth of sugarcane was sacrificed for my enjoyment. I'm EAGER to go back and try the watermelon. My tapioca started freezing together from the coldness of the smoothie. This made things a little tricky, but I enjoyed it. The taro smoothie was good, but it tasted a little off. Maybe I had actual taro for the first time and not a powdered mix? I don't know.

a big bowl of Pho for a reasonable price, hell yea! we were just trying to find an alternative Pho place so we tried this spot out and it didn't disappoint. it was a very clean and modern looking place and everyone was really nice here. so try it out, you won't be disappointed with the Pho here
(5)Bridget D.
Great service and delicious, inexpensive food! HUGE bowls of pho!

We come here once in a while. Nowadays, whenever I have a taste for Pho, this is where I go. I used to go to another place but I come here now. Why? When it comes to Pho, I like the quality and taste here. I'm sure there are others who would say they've had better. I will probably say the same but for now, this is where I go for Pho. My son orders the salt & pepper pork chops with steamed rice. He's good to go there. My wife would order the Banh Mi once in a while. She and I still prefers the sandwiches at Nhu Lan's in Chicago. My mother loves the Singapore noodles but without the curry powder (Yep, you can order it the way you want it.). My daughter would have some from each of us but she likes the fried rice. Like I said, I come here for the Pho. The broth makes the difference. I love the ingredients too. Presentation of food is nice. Price is pretty reasonable even for a family of 5. The place doesn't seem big from the outside but once you're inside, there's space in there even for a group of diners. I haven't tried their bubble teas or smoothies. Most of the time I'm pretty full and don't want anything else even to go. Maybe next time. Try the chicken wings, spring rolls for appetizers. Make sure you save room for the main meal. We'll definitely come back, House of Pho!.. :-)

An overdue review for a local favorite of mine. In one sentence, a gem in the suburbs for Vietnamese food that is consistent in great quality, great prices, and friendly service. . Highlights: . Appetizers: #34: Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp are refreshing, and complimented by the sweet peanut sauce. The rice paper wrap is not too tough as it can be at some places. My favorite app here. #36: Pan Fried Rice Flour Cake: basically an egg flour crepe with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts with sweet and sour sauce to dip it in. Amazing as well. . Entrees: #4: Pho Tai Nam: Pho with eye round steak and brisket; portions are large, well flavored broth, and love the crunchiness of the bean sprouts you can toss in. Awesome on a cold Chicago night. #12 or #13: Bun Thit Nuong (Vermicelli Noodle Salad): rice vermicelli noodles with either pork, beef, chicken, or shrimp. Basically this is a yummy non-broth version of Vietnamese noodle goodness with Fish Sauce as the main flavoring. Freaking.... amazing and my staple favorite entrée to order and relatively healthy might I add. . Lunch: Not listed online, but available in the restaurant is a small menu of banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches for under $5). Not quite the quality of some of the places on Argyle, but not far from it, and given the price and saving me the drive of going to the city.... I'm a big fan. If the bread were a little fresher, I'd like them as much as the argyle street shops. Buy 5 and get one free!! Tempting..... haha Seriously though, very tasty and quick service if you want to stop by on your lunch break. . Permanent fan......will repeat over and over and over again. A to da K

We were staying overnight in Schaumburg and went out for a family dinner at House of Pho. Their Seafood Pho was the highlight of our dinner. All other entrees were also very good. Will definitely be back again

I got the shrimp spring roll (goi cuon) here. I think that is the first time I liked vietnamese fresh spring roll. I usually don't because of the mix of textures. Milk tea was good the first time I had it but ever since then it hasn't been good anymore. It is super sweet and I can't really taste the tea part. It is more worth it for us (my 2 year old son and myself) to get an adult appetizer and a kids' meal because my son never finishes those kids meals as they're such big portions for his age. So I just share the kids meal entree with him. We usually like to get the chicken fried rice. We both like it here! Lots of flavor and just enough for the both of us. Minimum $10 for credit cards. Parking hard to find directly in front of the restaurant. I usually end up finding parking on the other side of the plaza.

We have come to this place a few times and have had great service. Today our waitress on attempt to talk was what we wanted to order. We ordered the pho which was okay. My mother in law makes it better. The crab Rangoon was lacking the crab part. I also requested a tea with my meal but it never came. When looking around other tables were seated after us and got better service and attention.

We love this place!! Food is awesome, big portions!! I've never seen a sign at the restaurant that's BYOB, but one of the reviews I read on here says it is. Awesome!!

Delicious seafood pho! Very friendly staff!

I'm not pho pro but this place is awesome! The place itself is very clean and warm. It's decorated cutely and the booths are a cozy spot to sit in. I ordered number 3, pho with eye round steak and beef meatballs. The bowl of broth was huge!! Definitely enough to fill you for a whole meal. I learned that I'm not a fan of beef meatballs, but the dish was still delicious! All of the pho's are only $7. The staff is very friendly. Servers came by to our table often to check on us and made sure our water was refilled promptly. Oh! An added bonus, I was definitely loving the John Legend playlist they had playing in the background. Hearing my man sing and eating delicious pho is a fabulous combo!
(5)Pattie U.
I enjoyed this place. It's spacious and clean. The pho serving was pleasantly huge. The broth was nice and light, doesn't have the funky taste that I despise at Tank Noodle. I asked for a $1 extra of tendon, which made it all the yummier. It was pretty empty when I got there around 11 AM, but it filled up extremely quickly for lunch hour.
(4)Pack C.
I tried Pho during lunch hour here. It was really cheap ~$5-6: huge portion and lots of meat. The taste is ok, not spectacular. the place reminds me a lot of Asian Noodle house (on Roselle): cheap and lots of menu selection. House of Pho definitely looks more dated and cleaner interior-wise. I'll go back again. It's so cheap! Plus, it's not that easy to find pho in the 'burb.
(3)R L R.
It was a real surprise to find this little restaurant tucked in a little strip mall. I frequent Little Saigon in Argyle, so I'm used to authentic Vietnamese cuisine. House of Pho is no exception and the pricing is redonk cheap!! My buddy and I couldn't finish the pot stickers fast enough and we both eyed each other every time one of us would eat one. Fortunately, there were 6 to split between the two of us and each were ENORMOUS!! However, we both agreed we were getting our own separate orders next time. We both got the Vietnamese pork chops with the fried egg and were not disappointed. My friend is a very picky eater so for him to leave his take-out container empty and gleaming says a lot. Four days later, he called to gloat that he was eating there again without me. Douche. Definitely a new favorite spot for the both of us!!!
(4)Mary M.
They have huge portions and great food (although I am not a pho expert). The staff is extremely friendly. They are quick with delivering the food after ordering. The food is cheap! About $7 for a big bowl of pho. This is not a place for a first date nor is it a fancy restaurant. Some of the walls are painted with a mural, but it is more like a ma and pa place. Yet, this is a definite place to visit!

I TRIED - Pho Dac Biet (2/10) - Fresh Spring Roll (4/10) - Fried Spring Rolls (6/10) I hate LA...but in the way you "hated" your good friend when you went to show your buddies your cool new wind up Matchbox car, and your friend shows up in a Power Wheels. Not only do they have the best Korean food, they have the best Pho too. I don't know why I said that, but it was running through my head while I was eating the Pho here. If I have enough time to think up a starting anecdote to a Yelp review, we have problems. I pass by this place every day on my way home from work. I haven't stepped food in the plaza that this place is in for probably over 20 years! Way back then, there was a Domino's Pizza in here (pickup only), and I used to ride with my parents to pick up the pizzas. Afterwards, White Castle is as close as I'd come to this plaza. When I saw the sign for "House of Pho," I got giddy as a school girl! So, this morning, I finally got the chance to try it out. FRIED SPRING ROLLS They're pretty good. Not a lot of ways you can screw this up, though. Having said that, the 2nd one I tried had some giant chunks of semi-cooked onion that really threw the taste off. Nice and crispy. FRESH SPRING ROLLS Certainly not the best spring rolls I've had. When you dip it in the Hoisin sauce, all you taste is Hoisin sauce. Hm. Interesting. Wonder what it tastes like if you don't dip it? It tastes like rice! I see the shrimp, I see the leaf (basil or mint or whatever it is), but I tasted NOTHING! You know what, I got it. I can describe this in a way you can understand real clearly. Imagine...eating a spring roll...while having a bad cold with a stuffy/runny nose. PHO DAC BIET Remember the fresh spring roll? Blow it up and add broth. Now, people accuse me of not allowing Pho to have its own flavor, because I douse it with Sriracha, to the point that it glows so much I get sunburn on my face afterwards. Be that as it may, the actual taste of Pho is not lost to me. Ritualistically, before I start any bowl of Pho, I take a few ladles of just the broth by itself. What did I taste here? Very little flavor. I got a nice kick of cilantro in it, so maybe you can say the cilantro is fresh, but whatever it is that goes into the broth of Pho, it was either not fresh or missing here. It wasn't so absent as to make the broth "disgusting" or "inedible," it was just "well below average." Secondly, it wasn't that hot (maybe 7 out of 10) - 10 being Starbucks coffee scolding. I add a lot of sprouts to my Pho, so when you add cold sprouts to 7/10 heat, you start approaching lukewarm -- blech! The meat was plentiful, and the taste and toughness were about the same. What I thought was funny was that this Pho came with rare beef (which I see at plenty of places), but because the broth was just above lukewarm, it took a while for those red pieces of meat to finally cook. I eventually ate them as very "medium rare." So, back to the flavor of this Pho... I typically squeeze a half wedge of lime, as many sprouts as they give, about a teaspoonish of Hoisin, and make 3 concentric circles and draw a star with the Sriracha. This is usually enough to make any Pho delicious. After the initial broth tasting, I knew this was going to take more work, but I even added extra lime and hoisin, and I could not get this thing to taste quite right. And by the time I finished, the broth was lukewarm on its way to cool. Gross! VS ASIAN NOODLE HOUSE? For us Shamburgians and Hoffman Estatians, Asian Noodle House on Higgins & Roselle is the only place you can go to get your Pho fix. It's either that, or drive an hour to Tank Pho or somewhere in Viet Town.Granted, after living in the city for several years, near The Noodle and Viet Town, Asian Noodle House was a little disappointing, but it wasn't bad at all. It was just missing more eccentricities of the better Phos. I eventually came to terms with Asian Noodle House and I enjoy it today. But man o man! This House of Pho isn't just a step down, this is an entire flight of stairs-down. I had really high hopes, because this place is almost a stone's throw away from my house. But oh well. Asian Noodle House it is!

Great food and prices! The best Asian food in the area. We've lived here for over a year now and haven't been able to find good Chinese/Japanese food at an affordable price. Will definitely be going back for seconds
(4)Alex B.
Great food, large portions, unbelievably low prices and the staff is helpful. Will come again when my travels bring me to this area.

This is becoming my favorite place for Pho. Over the last month, I have been several time, the food is fresh, service is quick making a great combination for lunch. My collegues and friends have always enjoyed the flavors of the foods and requested to go back.

Good Pho!!! The service is great and the manager is very friendly. She took the time to explain to me how to arrange my Pho when I got back to work. I usually have seafood Pho and there's is very delicious. They load you up on the essentials like fresh basil, sprouts, jalapenos, limes, and sauces. For a large, it was $7. I also got the fried shrimp. They were perfectly fried, maybe a little greasy, but in a wonderful way. Will definitely make this my lunchtime Pho spot. Be aware that you can not use a credit card unless your bill is over $10. This is why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars.

If you refer to my review on Pho Ha in Glendale Heights, you'll see that when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants, for me, the real test is their simplest bowl of pho. In many pho restuarants, the broth's questionable quality is masked with salt, pepper, and other spices. A quality broth should be clear, not oily, and full of flavor (savory beefy goodness). At House of Pho, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ingredients in my #1 (Pho Tai). The broth wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, a little too sweet for me, but it was definitely on the right track. The cilantro and scallions in the broth were clearly fresh, and the noodles were not overdone. The rare beef was not really rare for me, which means they may have just put it in too early. The sprouts, basil, and lime that come with your typical pho were also fresh. It's a huge pet peeve when I'm given a plate of dry and wilted veggies, so this earned brownie points with me. The spring rolls, as someone else mentioned, were a give or take. They were freshly wrapped with quality ingredients, but something just wasn't great about it. Rather than a full porky flavor, they had a dominating sweetness that was exacerbated by the overly sweet peanut sauce. The chopped peanuts were too large for a dipping sauce as well. The rolls themselves were decent, but I might pass on this. House of Pho earned points on the clean and inviting interior (though generically "Asian"), friendly service, and generous portions (they're almost TOO big and only cost about $7). However, I would say that they lost out a bit with us on two major areas. 1) The pho was still better at Pho Ha. I found myself adding Sriracha several times for extra flavor. 2) They don't sell Banh Mi sandwiches. According to who we think was the owner, they'll begin selling the hugely popular sandwiches starting Summer 2012. Side tip: They also have a small selection of bubble tea. I would consider House of Pho a strong second-place finisher and a great option for a quick bowl of pho in the suburbs.

Went to the House of Pho for lunch. We both ordered the lunch special Pho, his with beef and mine with chicken. It cost a little under $6 per serving. It includes a vegetarian egg roll, and OH MY GOODNESS it was delicious. Then again, at these places you can never go wrong with an egg roll. Next came the Pho. The portion is ginormous, and the Pho, which I had never tried before, was amazing. The chicken tasted awesome in the beef broth, and the addition of a little lime, which is added on the side, makes it perfect. The decor was great, and made it feel cozy yet hip, unlike a lot of Ma and Pa, hole-in-the-wall authentic Asian restaurants. The service was very fast and attentive; granted, we were eating a little before noon. If you're looking for an authentic Asian restaurant that is a bit more upscale than some places, go to House of Pho!

I love Pho noodles. It is the best noodles in the world. I love to go back here again.

I'm always down for trying new restaurants, so I came here for the first time today with a few of my friends. I really enjoyed the atmosphere/layout of the whole restaurant. It was spacious and there was interesting artwork on the walls. So overall, I would say it was pretty aesthetically pleasing to the eye. As for the food, we specifically came here for some pho, and I was 100% satisfied. I ordered the Pho Tai, which just has the thinly sliced rare beef, cilantro, onions and the usual side of bean sprouts, basil, lime and peppers. So good. My friend is a vegetarian and she's never tried pho before, so she ordered the seafood pho, and she really enjoyed it! (She got the Pho Do Bien, which has shrimp, squid, crab meat, and fish shrimp balls). My other friend ordered vegetable fried rice which she said was really good. I'm definitely glad that we found this place and I'm looking forward to trying some of their other dishes in the future!

One of the best Phos I've tasted - full of flavor!

First time having Vietnamese food. Heard the pho was a good cure for a hangover. It def worked. The food was delicious!!! The staff was very friendly. Prices are excellent !! We also had the pineapple mango smoothie.......yum!!! I will be coming back here very soon!

This is the Vietnamese equivalent of Pita Inn. The lunch specials are awesome ... less then what I expected when I 1st walked in & saw the pleasant decor. The quality and freshness is wonderful with the price and they're really flexible with substituting items on the lunch special, say chicken with tofu, etc. I wish there was a closer one to me as I don't make it out to Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg as much as I used to ... =)
(5)Mark B.
First things first. If you are not serious about your Vietnamese cuisine, you should not venture into House of Pho. Don't take this the wrong way. What I mean is that this is serious, traditional Vietnamese fare. If you like your Asian foods Americanized , this is not for you. We ordered the lunch Pho soup, the Bun Bo Hue and the Pad Thai. The Pho was tasty and the Bun Bo Hue was spicy as expected. The Pad Thai (with shrimp) was done just right. The only part that was a bit disconcerting was the floating chunks of tendon and other connective tissue in the Pho and Bun Bo Hue.. I'm not sure why were were surprised since it called that out on the menu description. As mentioned above, just a warning that if you're not prepared, the authentic cuisine can be a bit unnerving.. I suspect I'll have to go back alone, but I am sure I'll be back. No complaints.

I go here everytime I`m feeling up for some Pho! Great taste and friendly waiters/waitresses. I love this place!
(5)Neil D.
Love it! Pho, pork chops, Asian calamari, and salad noodles.... I yet have to try the others....but will definitely be a regular here. And since I don't really know what authentic Vietnamese food tastes like, this will be my basis.

I really wanted to like this place. It took three trips back here to finally arrive at a 4 star review. The first time I went, I had the Pho lunch special. It comes with soup and an eggroll. The first thing I got was my Pho. It was VERY good. Unfortunately there was no sign of the soup or eggroll. I asked about it and...oops...they forgot. The manager promised me an additional eggroll next time. Yeah, sure I thought. Trip number 2. I had Pad Thai. Again, I thought the Pad Thai was excellent, even though I MAY have overdone it with the chili sauce. The manager remembered and I immediately got two eggrolls. Unfortunately the server was a bit confused and I didn't get the soup until I asked for it. Trip number 3. I had Pad Thai again. And again I MAY have overdone it with the chili sauce! But this time I got the eggroll and soup without having to chase it down. Finally happy! I also got some Pho to go for my wife as she was coming home from work for lunch that day. The food is great. I like the Pad Thai as much or better than at Dan Thai and I like the Pho better than Asian Noodle house - and no sticky tables. The service would seem to be hit and miss. The server I usually seem to get doesn't talk much, if at all. She seems a little scattered and unsure of what's going on. Maybe that's improving over time. I hope so. Overall I think it's a solid 4 stars and if the service improves, it could easily be 5 stars. This is now my go-to spot for at least Pho and Pad Thai! Looking forward to going there again to try some of the other menu items as I have no idea what most of it is!

I am a pho addict and glad there is a good viet resturant out this way. Pho is very good , with authenic flavorful broth. Always very good. Friendly staff.
(5)Sandra Y.
Banh xeo was soggy, they used thin sliced luncheon meat instead of pork belly or pork meat, shrimp tasted spoiled & fishy.. Chicken wings were good. Hot & crispy, but it's hard to mess something like chicken wings up. Bun bo hue was alright. There was a LOT of meat in there, which I liked, but the soup lacked richness, flavor, & wasn't as spicy as the ones I've had on Argyle. This place is a good go to place if you don't want to drive all the way to Chicago (since I only live a couple minutes away from here) but if I want authentic vietnamese food, I think I'll take the trip to Argyle.
(3)Jojo B.
When busy the owner can get rowdy on her employees which is very evident to customers. But the food is ok. I am a fan of their bun bo hue. no. 11 I think.
(4)Soo M.
This place is a hidden treasure in suburb for PHO lovers. Great service, authentic taste, roomy and clean space, and big portion size!!!!! It was my first time here, would definitely go back anytime whenever my hunger craves PHO.
(5)Danny Y.
Walking in, the decor shouted american fusion but the food was pretty on point. Still not the 5/5 pho soup I was searching for, but it definitely wasn't as bad as Pho 4 U in Lombard. Considering the $5 lunch-special prices, this was a great deal. Their shrimp egg-rolls were fairly delicious, but this was the first time I've seen a pho restaurant serve them without the standard-issue lettuce (wrap) and their fish sauce was a slight variation of the one I'm used to.

Summary: Food =4.5 stars, Service = 2.5 stars. Overall is like 3.5 stars... Food: Good Vietnamese Pho Noodles. Tasty Vietnamese Egg Rolls. Location is great for people who work in Schaumburg near Woodfield Mall. Price: Good pricing for lunch in Schaumburg area. Service: Our waiter was extremely inexperienced. It took 4 attempts to request a glass of water for one of our friends who arrived late to lunch. On the 3rd attempt, the waiter brought the glass of water to another table?!! Atmosphere/Environment: Management did not seem to turn up the heating system to a comfortable level. It was chilly for someone who was even wearing long sleeves. You could see other people keeping their coats on. Will visit again as it is the only Vietnamese Pho Noodle restaurant near work. But hopefully the service can gain more useful experience...

I got the Pho and spring rolls and they were rather disappointing. I'm surprised this place does so well on Yelp.
(2)Romerico D.
Best Pho in the area, tasty and fresh always! Also best price in area for Pho! Huge portions, they don't skimp like other places I've been to; I'm a big eater and can barely finish their large bowl. Excellent service too, I've never asked to have my water glass filled and conversation with servers felt sincere and thoughtful. Been there several times now and always excellent.

My husband and I went there the Friday before Xmas and we were so excited about a new Vietnamese restaurant where we can get some Pho. Boy, we were very disappointed. I ordered their vegetable rice paper egg roll and seriously thought it was a joke....the ingredients were rice paper, big slab of unseasoned tofu, lettuce and plain, bland vermicelli just rolled up. No flavor or taste at all...BLAND beyond belief. We thought maybe it would getter better with our entrees. My husband got the lunch special Pho and he said it was the worst Pho he's ever had. No taste, very watery and barely a few tiny pieces of beef. I got the fried rice and I never thought you can mess up fried rice, but House of Pho proved me wrong. It was the worst fried rice I've ever had, no seasoning, no salt and just huge chunks of broccoli. To be fair, the kids thought the crab ran goons were really good but you can tell they were fried twice (very brown and chewy. The pad Thai was ok. The restaurant is beautiful and very pleasing to the eyes but not so much to our palates. I would never go back to this place ever again...so disappointed....now to continue the search for a good Vietnamese place for Pho.

I love PHO! Just had some in San Fran and this place rocked as well. Great hangover food :)
(4)Helen W.
First off, this does not appear to be an authentic VN Pho restaurant I dont think. Esp being from San Diego where there seems to be a Pho Restaurant at every corner. They have the egg rolls, but not the ones with the lettuce, mint and dipping sauce, plus they were pricey, 3 for $3.50 for small rolls. The spring rolls with shrimp was a bit bland, but I'm not a fan of these to start off with. The everything pho bowl was extra large and had a alot of broth. The noodles were al dente, plenty of tripe,, not so much rib eye beef, but they were tasty, and the brisket was tough and stringy, and the tendons were thick and soft. The soup could have used some more spices, and it did have a mildness to it. Definitely will try again as its the only Pho place in the area.

I'm not sure when this place opened, but we happened to drive past it today and quickly decided that this evening (at 17F) was a perfect night for pho. The space is cozy, with a lot of bamboo decorations and different sections of dining. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the shrimp & pork spring rolls to start with - super fresh! They were gone in a minute. Then I got the #1 Pho (with sliced beef), and the hubby got the Salt & Pepper Shrimp plate with white rice. The bowl of pho was not only extremely delicious (complex, properly spiced broth), but the portion was HUGE! We shared it and still took home half of a container! The Salt & Pepper shrimp was excellent and hit the spot (we've been craving it for a while now). Head-on deep fried shrimp with spicy peppers and onions. They definitely do not skimp on the rice either... it was served in a bowl almost as big as the pho bowl. Our total without tip: $26! I am SO happy this place opened! It's clean, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly. Absolutely no more (dirty) Asian Noodle House for me!
(5)Victor V.
Absolutely best Asian restaurant in the Chicagoland area. The Pho is amazing. Linda is one of the owners. You tell her your name and she will never forget it. Great food, great service. Argyle is in trouble.
(5)Melanie T.
came here with my husband and kids and had pictured it being a hole in the wall kind of a place but we were pleasantly surprised. the decor is modern in a bootleg way. we didn't have to wait and were seated right away. there's a lot of space inside so you don't feel cramped. food was delicious, hot and fresh. we ordered eggrolls and crab ragoon for appetizers. my husband and i ordered the lunch special beef pho which came with one vegetable eggroll and eggdrop soup. my two younger kids shared the kids chicken pho and my step daughter had their lunch special chicken, rice and veggie dish. everyone finished and enjoyed their meals! I prefer this place over asian noodle house. only negative was the language barrier...it was a little hard explaining somethings to our server but she eventually got it.

Oh I felt so guilty walking in, because I'm a loyal Pho Ha customer... But my friend brought me here to check out the lunch specials, so why not give it a try?! $5.95 gets u a bowl of steaming hot pho and a egg roll. ($7.99 for dinner menu) ummm, are these supposed to be smaller portions? Bc this was a pretty large bowl, I'm assuming the regular size... Which was more than enough. The Pho broth is a great way to judge a Vietnamese restaurant. The broth was clear, no oily film collecting on top. The broth was very flavorful, however I got a little bit of sweetness (certain people like it... I don't). It could have had a little more beefy flavor. So I usually just add a little bit of lime juice and a couple jalapeno slices to my broth, and dip the meat in hoison/sriracha bc I dont like to mess with the broth. The only thing that bothered me were the noodles... I believe they mistakenly used vermicelli noodles in our pho instead of the traditional rice noodles. (Vermicelli is thinner and more flimsy than rice noodles... Think of the noodles they put in your Summer Rolls). Either that or they were too soggy. It made it awkward to eat. And as for your lunch special, make sure to remind the server for your egg roll... Because I'm sure they "forget". The friend I dined with said they tend to either not bri it out or bring it at the very end w your bill. Egg roll was simple and flavorful. It comes with a side of nguc mam (fish sauce) to dip it in. I did notice signs for Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) order 4 and get a 5th free. Perhaps I'll be back to try one.... But I'm picky, it has to be as good as Ba Le's! Overall, it's a great deal and if I'm in the area I'll swing by again and try some different dishes.
(3)Kejia Y.
I can't believe this restaurant got 4 stars onYelp... This place does not know what is Vietnamese food...at all. When we got to the place, we found out the waitresses in this restaurant were speaking Cantonese. We doubted whether their food was as authentic as they claimed. When we started our first bite on the yellow curry with chicken, we knew this place only knows how to cook Cantonese food. The Tom Yum soup tastes nothing but Cantonese soup with some spicy taste. Same was the fried Vietnamese rice noodle with beef (actually this one was not too bad, but still, not authentic Vietnamese food). The spring rolls looked authentic but did not have any taste in them! Trust me, I've tried so many Vietnamese restaurants and I am quite familiar with Cantonese food. If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese food (or Thai food), do not come to this restaurant. If you do not know how Vietnamese food tastes like, you will find it tastes disappointing in this restaurant.

Since finding out about this place, I have been coming back every other week. Most other Pho restaurants are cramped this place is open, i dont like hearing the table next to me sucking on there noodles, its destracting.
(5)Adam H.
We went early to try out this reastaurant and had a great experience. It was relatively empty when we arrived so the three of us were seated instantly. They dont have their liquor liecense yet so we drank water and an iced tea but it wasn't a deal breaker by any means. For an appetizer we had beef potstickers and we all ordered the Pho Tai which was excellent. The atmosphere was welcoming and the food was outstanding, I had to give 4 stars purely for the no beer scenerio. I'd normally see past that, however tonight I was looking forward to a beer then some tasty pho. I'll be back and get that satisfaction one day but in the meantime I have to reccomend this place to any fans of pho or for those who are new to Vietnamese food (that includes myself), enjoy!

The food was great and the servers were very attentive.

As any NW and West suburban Pho fan knows, there are very few places to choose - and unfortunately, the better of the lot have closed and left their legacy behind. The old Saigon restaurant on Bloomingdale Rd. comes to mind. After Saigon, the location went downhill and it became something else, then the Noodle or something (which was Thai owned if I recall) Not very good. And the others off the top of my head in order of tastiness - Pho Ha had a brief bump in the road, but are doing well, and a good local alternate to Argyle. There's the place off Schmale and St. Charles Roads behind the Carol Stream Fire Dept - don't recall the name and not even sure if it is still there, but it was pretty good. Asian Noodle on Roselle Rd. was just 'ehh', but if I'm having withdrawals, it is right down the street from me - though I'd much rather have their Chinese Noodle soup. Vietnam Bistro is just, well, I'll never have pho there again. And Pho U in Buffalo Grove...I have not eaten, but my trusted foodie friend will never ever go there again. The absolute best place for pho (and other dishes including the Bánh xèo when available) is one that I unfortunately cannot say (even better than anything in the city) and is in the West burbs, but it's not technically a restaurant - more of a cafeteria - but hands-down best pho I've eaten in any city in the US. Vietnamese people should know what I am referring to. (We are Japanese, so we can kind of fit in there...) So, after that long intro, I drove past some weeks back and noticed the Grand Opening sign, and after reading some of the reviews here, we (wife, 2 young daughters and I) decided to go on a Wednesday - last night. I ordered the #4 pho, brisket and round-eye. My wife ordered the #8 special pho. Also ordered were the pot stickers and Bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake) and the kids also wanted the combination fried rice. First up were the pot stickers. Not bad, but clearly over fried. Another 3 seconds would've burned the skin - it was that close. Cut one open and juice sprayed across the plate. Unfortunately, I think all that juice was sucked out of the meat, as it was a tad dry - clearly because of the slight over frying. Not too bad though with the dipping sauce. Next came the Bánh xèo. Happily it was relatively grease free, well fried. Many places tend to use too much oil and fry it at a lower temp so you get a pool of oil on the plate. This was crispy, and the filling contained the usual sprouts and well-cleaned shrimp, but also with a julienned ham product. It wasn't bad, but unfortunately the shrimp was over-cooked, and it seemed to have an essence of jasmine or something quite odd. My wife seemed to think of the taste as having an earthy tone to it. Strange. The sauce was a fairly tasty, but with a touch too much fish sauce. Great sauces have a perfect balance. One big gripe was the lack of lettuce, however. It came with two pieces, one wilted under the warm pancake and the other beneath the accoutrements. I had to ask for more! Come on...for Bánh xèo? And when they brought out more, they were unfortunately, slightly wilted. Fried rice came out, and well, it's fried rice ordered for the kids. Huge portion. Good chunks of chicken and beef, along with shrimp, which was undercooked and half cleaned - these shrimp must've been big eaters. Other ingredients included green onion and sprouts. Despite the shrimp issue, it looked darker than it tasted and the kids enjoyed it. The shrimp also didn't have the odd taste as in the other dish, which was a plus despite being almost sashimi-like. Finally, the pho. Like other dishes, and as people have noted, this is a large portion. It would be considered the large size in restaurants that offer different sizes to choose - though House of Pho only has one size. Aromatics hit you immediately, as does the freshness of the onion, scallion, cilantro - and jalapeno, basil and sprouts. Good amount of both kinds of beef in mine - and the tripe was very well cleaned in my wife's, she noted. The brisket was cut the wrong way, as I wish they would have cut it opposite grain to to ensure a more tender bite, but it was fine. Round eye was cut better so it was nicely tender and quite good. And the broth was clearer and slightly greasier than I expected and I am used to. True pho should have small bits floating in it from the broth creation process that make it past the mesh, but this was adequately tasty. It did lack some complexity and did not leave a pleasant lingering aftertaste as great pho does. As I was nearing the end of the pho, more flavors started appearing, but that could be the result of my palate adapting, and all the flavors condensing. An excellent pho should have that at the very first sip with a lasting and pleasant aftertaste - even prior to customizing it with sriracha or whatnot. It's not bad, however. As my wife summed up the meal perfectly: It is convenient.

ok quality food in decent price.. can't say it's anything special about it.

A friend recommended this place, said it's better than Pho Ha in Bloomingdale (our usual Pho place). Lunch on a Sunday around 1230-ish. The place was fairly packed. Husband and I got there first (we were waiting for 1 more person). Lady sat us at a large 8 people table but did not offer to split the tables. We ordered 3 water and requested to separate 2 bills. An older woman named Grace served us. She approached us with no smile or emotion or what so ever. My husband ordered # 11 and me # 7 and an order of spring rolls as an 'appetizer'. Our friend ordered a # 7 as well. After a while, our friend's order came first, with NO sign of our spring roll. We then noticed another table that had arrived AFTER us had already received their spring rolls. Then Grace came out with our Pho orders, still NO spring rolls but she said it will be right now, which led me to believe that she's forgotten our order. How is it that the 'entree' comes BEFORE the appetizer is beyond me. My husband's #11 had a very strong shrimp paste smell with a very thick layer of chili oil on top. My #7 had very little cilantro in there (which to my understanding - 1 cilantro is cheap, they could have put more in there and 2 pho soup base is known for their cilantro freshness taste) there wasn't even a hint of freshness taste to it. The noodles themselves are cooked WAY too soft, it was almost like it's been soaked in there for a long time. The spring roll. How can I describe. They were very loosely packed and very poorly made, sauce was nothing compared to Pho Ha, again. Then Grace came back with the bill and again with no smile and no THANK YOU?! Isn't saying 'thank you' the most common courtesy for a waiter/waitresses? wow. Overall in conclusion, atmosphere is ok. It's fairly big with open spaces, however, it could be because of a high ceiling, voices travel. There were a couple crying babies and it got extremely annoying. Food was NOT good at all. I've had better Pho, Pho Ha in Bloomingdale tasted MUCH better (but don't expect GREAT service and BEAUTIFUL decor). Price is reasonable and portion was ok as well. Service? I feel like there was none except she took the order and brought them out to us. This was and will be the only time @ House of Pho.

Excellent food and delicious Pho! We had the Pho Tai (with round steak) and it was delicious; also had the Pho Dho Bien (Seafood soup) and the Pan Fried Rice Flour pancake that comes filled with pork, shrimp, sprouts. The owner came over immediately with extra napkins and asked if we knew what to do with this and we of course said, "no". She explained that we were to roll pieces of the pancake and slaw in the lettuce leaves and top with the sweet and sour sauce. It was wonderful (and yes, messy). Our waiter was also helpful and prompt. The owner returned at the end of our meal and chatted with us for awhile -- she is delightful! Their prices can't be beat -- our total bill was only 23.00. Nice, casual atmosphere -- can't wait to go back and try other things.

Took a chance. Thrilled I did. As I was driving on Golf road I saw the sign for House of Pho. I am a fan o Pho and have been wanting to try more Vietnamese food.. When entering the building we were greeted immediately and seated. All of their portions are large and very well priced. Service was a pleasure, the food was fantastic, and I would absolutely return. Go there. You won't regret it.

Clean, good price, less MSG. Menu is small need more variety.

We had a great lunch here! Very friendly hostess and server, really big portions for the price, everything was fresh and tasty. The lunch specials come with an egg roll and choice of tom yum or egg drop soup. I'm hesitant to order chicken in sauces in restaurants because every once in a while you'll get a bite with gristle or fat, but here, no such problems with the yellow curry chicken with potatoes and onions. I liked the decor, sort of spare and modern. The outside of this restaurant doesn't look like much - it's in a strip mall with uninspired signage - but the inside is much better!

Hubby recently found this restaurant on Yelp to take out and we decided to try dining in. We really liked the pork chops with rice, good size serving and pork is lean with bone in and nicely marinated. I like the spacious interior and even if it's busy it's not too noisy. We've been here twice for dinner now at peak time and earlier, both times the service was quick and friendly. It's a new favorite!

We went there on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was about 1/3 full. Service: 5 stars Spring Rolls: 3 stars although my 7 yo chowed it down and my 10yo loved the peanut sauce. Inside the roll was what looked like lunch meat. I wonder if that was the "pork" as listed on the menu. Chicken Wings: 3 stars until I saw a bit of pinkness inside the out-of-place giganto chicken wing that my son was eating. All the others were about the same size and were fully cooked, but I think they should have taken out the big guy if they weren't going to cook it longer. Both my kids said they like the taste of the wings at the other Vietnamese place in DP. Btw, nobody got sick later, thank goodness. Pho Tai: 4 stars. The broth tasted good but a bit on the light side. The side of lime, basil, and sprouts were really fresh. Bun Rieu: 4 stars. My daughter got freaked out by the lunch meat and didn't eat much of the dish except for the shrimp, so like the responsible mother that I am, I ate the rest for her. The flavor was good, but like the Pho Tai, I felt that it could use more umph. I would give it another try if we are in the area again.

Really happy to see this place open up near my home as I love pho but didn't know where to find it in the area. I've actually only had the beef pho lunch special, but every time it's been great. You get a nice portion for the price and the broth is very tasty and aromatic. My two year old son is also a big fan of the pho-- he slurps up the broth and exclaims "num!" after every spoonful.

** PRO: fresh ingredients, good pricing for large portion, very clean restaurant, friendly staff, plenty of parking space. ** CON: food need a little bit more of salty and sweet seasoning across the board (from pho's broth to stir fried items). The rice combo dishes fare better than standalone dishes.

As vegetarian Indians, my husband and I loved this restaurant. Ordered: #33. Veg Spring Rolls. Wonderful! Sauce was magnificent. We love peanut sauce. And the rolls were simple, not spicy, but the combo sauce was so good with it. #112 Kung Pao with Tofu: Excellent! Such great quantities and lots of tofu. #113 Mixed Veggies with Tofu: Similar to #112. Good. Thai Iced Coffee. Great. we ordered fried rice w #112 and it was pretty tasty! Pros: Price was so great, quantity superb! Delicious, fresh and so accomodating to our veg diets. Cons: Super cold as was the previous Bamboo Garden that was located there (DRESS IN LAYERS). We asked her to make fried rice w/o egg, but she forgot and we were ok with that. So if you don't want egg, make sure you are clear and you'll probably get a little fresher fried rice since it will be prepared fresh. Not good for our toddler who only ate the fried rice. Not many options for veg children. Wish they could offer a veg noodle soup. Can't seem to find those yummy large bowls of noodles and soups for veggies. :( houseofphomenu.com I crave to go back to this place, esp for the veg spring rolls.

Lousy on many levels. Understaffed. Service non existent. Waiter told us soup was gonna take 5 minutes. It made sense because they unlikely cook it to order. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for the appetizers and 40 min for soup. We ordered two different soups, both were supposedly most popular in this place. One had grease floating around the bowl, with chunks of roast beef and pork meat loaf and some other prepared mistery lunch meats you can find in a "odds and ends" deli next door. This was supposed to be a beef soup but it also tasted like sea food, a terrible combination. The other soup smelled and tasted like it was sprinkled with perfume or at least something that didnt belong in the kitchen. I also found hair in the soup that was too blond to be mine and too short to be my wife's. We just couldnt eat anything except appetizers that were a ok. I like Asian food but this was the worst experience ever.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and let me tell you you will not be disappointed. Large servings, good food and great service. A.J. was our waiter and he was excellent. You cannot beat their prices. The Pho Tai was great and the fried shrimp appetizer was awesome. My wife had the rice vermicelli noodles with beef and it was also very tasty, the serving was so large she could not finish the bowl ! We will be going back soon for more !!

The food was authentic and was an overall tasty experience. Went with the hubs- we ordered the calamari for appetizer. He had a rice dish with porkvchops, Vietnamese sausage and sunny side egg and I had the pho #5 (beef and tendon). The appetizer was a little on the oily side but I think it's b/c they wanted to get us our food quickly. The overall seasoning of the squid and the bits of onions, garlic, and peppers it came with was delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his dish as did I. Usually, when you order tendon with your pho, I find that the tendon gets somewhat inconsistent and can be on the harder side. The tendon was so tender and soft. The broth totally hit the spot. Usually when you order pho at other places, they kinda get skimpy on the lime, basil and sprouts. Here, they give you plenty! It could be a new opening thing but hopefully, that'll stay the same. Overall, a great experience- we will be returning customers, for sure!
